If the road Wing is already assembled you just drop out the old shock and put in the new shock. Very simple job

Like you'll see in the article you can install from the rear, or from underneath.

From the rear is easier access to the shock, but more work to remove stuff. And when you put everything back you'll need to recheck things like rear wheel alignment and belt tension.

If you lift the bike and support the frame on stands at each corner then you can do everything from underneath without removing the wheel and such. That's how I did it.

Before you install the shock take some time to get collar pointed in the right direction so that the hydraulic fitting is in a good spot. You don't want it pointing straight down where it can get damaged, But also not up to where you can't reach it or where the frame will be in the way of the hose. I set mine about 45° downward. The collar is hard to rotate when it's under pressure. But it will turn. I put the shock in place, used a sharpie to mark where I wanted the hydraulic fitting, then turned the collar to the right spot.

You might need to bench bleed the shock. If you install the it and then connect the hydraulic line you might end up with air in the shock that you can't bleed out, because the fitting is pointing down and the collar doesn't have a bleeder screw. I mocked it up on the bike with the hose routed. Then I bleed the shock on the floor under the bike. Once I had the hose connected and everything was working then I just had to bolt in the shock and secure the hose.

The preload collar only takes 1-2 cc's of fluid. Like an eyedropper amount.

ok good deal i was wondering how to do it without removing rear wheel. so i can just use my motorcycle jack and do it from underneath correct?

You can technically access the shock with the motorcycle jack in place. If the jack is far enough forward. But the bike will want to tilt backwards. Jack stands are better. Lift it up, then position four jack stands. One on each corner of the frame. The pull the lift out. This will give you full access underneath.

I forgot to mention to use a floor jack to slightly lift the rear wheel to take pressure off of the shock. Then the shock mount bolts will come out easier.

Here's a pic of the fitting pointed down. It's about the same level as the frame. It came very close to touching the bike jack. That's when I realized that it was at risk of getting hit. I turned it so the fitting was closer to the dog bone.

Jack it up so the rear wheel is off the ground and use a shovel to lever the wheel up to take pressure off the shock bolts. Did it by myself. MikeyC even posted a photo of himself doing just that.
