  • Throttle Stop Screw

    Can anyone explain exactly how the plastic throttle stop screw adjuster works in the carbonator?

    Never ever had to adjust or touch that...why are you messing with it...did something happen?

      I was having a problem with the pilot circuit/idling when I was in mountains and use it to adjust the idle and keep the motorcycle running. I just had my carburetor rebuilt and unfortunately it still had some issues so I had to send it back out. When I get it back Tuesday and I put it back on I want to make sure that adjustment is correct. Also, I'm trying to learn about carburetors and that thing is a mystery to me because no-one ever talks about it.

        Take a good picture of the part you're talking about in question, and circle it if you can so we know exactly what you mean you say throttle stop screw. I hope you're not talking about the PMS?? That is something that should be adjusted but It is not plastic

            This guy. They call it a Throttle Stop Screw in the service Manuel. It tell you how to adjust it (Page included below) , Im curious what is actually doing. is it adjusting air or fuel and is that happening before or after the butterfly.

              That is just your idol adjuster. It's a knob that you use to adjust the idle. It turns hard but either clockwise or counterclockwise it will turn. Best to get a tachometer and set your warm idle to 900. Once you get it set properly do not touch the idle adjuster again.

                  It's the screw for just adjusting your idle RPM. It does nothing more. Let the bike warm up totally and adjust it to 900 RPM and leave it alone. If that becomes a problem put it at 950 RPMs.

                    It doesn't adjust air or fuel ratio. It's merely a stop when the throttle rotates back to idle. This is a carb on a car but should help for reference.
