Started relay fried

Tried starting my bike today and my starter got stuck engaged, had smoke pouring out of the side from all the heat the delay was making and wouldn't you know it's melted, luckily I was able to rush to take it apart before anymore real damage was done or my bike started. So my question is does anyone know of a reliable starter relay for roadies besides OEM or am I cursing myself by getting anything but that?

Because what's the harm in asking around before spending 80+ on a relay when there's a chance someone might know a better option?

I'm assuming you don't live under a rock and have heard the fallacies of using offshore electrical parts from other riders on the other forums. The ducks arse is just as tight here lol.

That’s just it. There isn’t a plan B when it comes to starter relays. All others are junk. A healthy battery and a good tune for fast start ups goes a long way in making them last.

next time it does it let the bike run and take the positive cable off before shutting it down.

I just figured it doesn't hurt to make sure,after all I'm no expert when it comes to electrical work, figure why not ask people who have more experience with this sort of stuff

Now you know. Gotta bite the bullet and order an OEM. Anything else might last you a week, at best.

When I redid my stator and rectifier I picked up a Ricks Motorsport relay solenoid. Installed It when I did everything And on the 1st crank it did the same thing. Get the OEM! Don’t waste money on the aftermarket ones

Wasn't there a tech article or something of someone using a Ford relay as a possible replacement? Or am I just dreaming shit up again????

Bikerron, thanks for the link. After reading that closer it appears that the OEM relay still needs to be functioning for that mod to work. So it's still back to replacing a failed relay.......
