A lot of folks just attach a fishing line leader to the mechanism and let it hang under the seat. Also you can lube the mechanism and the cable to make it work better. You should not be pushing down the key to unlatch the seat, pushing down locks the front fork. Just turn the key to the left.

I do not trust the push the key down system. It does not feel totally free or like it sometimes does not engage properly. Other times when coming out from handlebar lock its difficult to get the key to the start point.

I dont like it.

I either want to make a cable back from the latch leaving the cable from key connected and place it out of site somewhere. Or diconnect the key to cable one and make a finger pull cable and leave it out of site somewhere.

Anyone done anything like this i would like to know how you did it.

I will be doing my first major jobs on my bike in the next month or so and will report back my results.

As i will need to pull quite a bit os stuff off i will get a good look at it and who knows it might just need lube.
