  • Custom Paint?

I'm wanting to have a custom paint job done on my tins this winter, as mine have some scratches and wear marks. I know price ranges depend on the degree of customization, location and other factors, but I just want a solid color with maybe a pearl undercoat, nothing fancy. Has anyone here had a paint job done on their RS and if so, what would be the general cost? I would take off all of the parts.

I just had mine painted in June..I bought Colorrite 1pint silver metal flake base coat and 1pint Candy top coat 1quart of reducer the painter used his own brand of clear coat, most prefer to use what they’re use to spraying.
I had 3 pieces, tank and the 2 fenders done $750 + $450 in paint so $1200 bucks in southern Oregon

Thanks. That $1,200 included him taking it apart and putting it back together. That was a deal even back then, it was a side job for him from his regular paint day job.

Holy shit! They don't have Earl Scheib in Oregon?!!

Hard to believe paint's that expensive now. I was a painting contractor for a lot of years in California.

Yes paint is very $$$$ mine needed some body work done..it wasn’t a scuff n shoot

Yeah I had Maaco do my work truck back in the 80's, I think, and told them I was a painter by trade so needed attention to detail.

Sure enough, got it back, and several places were missed, as well as some serious orange-peel in a couple of places. Had them do it over again, which they didn't argue with. It was bright red. Mazda pickup with a rotary engine. Motor was awesome!

Second time around, after the repaint, was decent. Sold it not long after that, after having it for years, and a father-son pair bought it to trick-out for the kid's graduation. They rolled back into my driveway a couple of weeks later, and I wouldn't have recognized it! Painted it a teal green and added a custom extra cab to the truck, lowered it, trick wheels, etc. Was really glad to see the care they'd put into it! Kid got himself a hotrod!
