Are landon bars still gold?

Giving big thought to a cnc mill. I figure i could make a lot of stuff with it and i do have my cad file on the landon bar. I could make a bunch of those out of solid aluminum. But the cost would likely be about $250

I think they are. When I rarely see one for sale people are falling all over themselves to get it at any price. I think polished would be the cherry to put it over the top.

250....finished and chromed? Yes will sell 100 of those easily. Just plain aluminum but not polished or chromed? Doubtful you would have much market at 250...

That is the issue. A hunk of aluminum big enough to mill it out in 1pc is $170 alone.

I always wondered is there a place you can take the aluminum leftover shavings to melt down and get more aluminum block? It's a shame to have a 5 lb block of aluminum to make a 2 lb piece lol

I know if i bought 10ft of bar stock or more i could get a better price. So we would be talking $8,000 for the machine, $3,000yr for cnc software and like $1,000 worth of aluminum bar stock. But man the cool shit i could make

I don't think you could sell anywhere near 100 of them. It's a depleting market (they ain't making anymore bikes to put them on), plus you still have to have the sissy bar mount to install it, those are hard to find and expensive when you find one. If you don't have the mounts, you're talking $500 + to put one on. In this economy, and given that Roadstar riders typically aren't well heeled, that's asking a lot. Nobody has to have a Landon bar. I would like one but a $500 part on my $2500 bike is hard to justify. If it didn't run and it needed $500 to fix it that might be different. A CNC would be nice to have, but you probably won't get rich making Landon bars.

100% agree. My lathe i have cost me $5,000 for it. Not a high end one for sure but it was a nice unit. I havent gotten rich off it but i have certainly paid for it with all the wheel adapters and what-not i have made over the years. I sure would like to have that mill if i can justify that large (for me) purchase. I also have to consider the anual cost of the software to run it. From what i gathered it would cost about $2,000 a year for software. Cheaper software out there for sure but i might have issues with support or help if i need it.
