Yes, it's even worse in person looked like they jb welded a nut to the head. I found a nice one on eBay for 8 dollars!

They had a chrome look powder but unfortunately there was some issue with the parts off gassing? I’m not familiar with how the system works but the black looked better it was hazy in spots with the chrome look. I dropped the rocker box covers off they are pitted pretty bad on top and the chrome is coming off in chunks so hoping for the best on them

I stopped by my local Yamaha dealer to get some o rings, not sure if I'm calling the part by its correct name but the adapter that the oil filter attaches to, it has 4 bolts there are 2 o rings on the back. $ 8.56 for the 2 o rings! That makes HD parts seem cheap !

You can get O rings at True value hardware store. No need to pay Yamaha and all of the middlemen. I just bought a 1/4" diameter O ring for the carb float bowl for $.25 this morning from ACE hardware.

Anything can be done... for the right price. What you're seeing is that much that Yamaha made was from some pretty poor cast metal and plating. A blast, some smoothing, or whatever, and whatever finish you want to go for will make them look show quality. OR, you could shop for a set in like new appearance, and start out ahead of the game.

Lookin good man! What's the story on this bike? Do you have the complete bike or are you parting it together? What's end goal?

Parting it together. I retired in February so I needed something to do unfortunately I have lingering back issues from a failed surgery so I can only sit or stand for about 30 minutes then I have to go lay down, it’s moving along and I should have all the rear suspension in by the end of the weekend. I hope you get that starting issue worked out. I hear a lot of people say to use the warrior starter and a lot say to use bigger cables I got the larger battery cables hopefully It will Work.

I have been doing decompression treatments 3x a week I did try inversion but it hurt too bad with all the nerve damage

Sorry to hear about your back issues. I've had a back injury before, so I have had a taste of how debilitating that can be.
That's a sweet project though. I fun project that you will eventually get to play with.

Yeah, if I can't figure something else out, the cables and a Warrior starter will be my next moves. Thanks.

Got a big box today! It's the transfer case got it from fallen cycle in Daytona beach, Fl. I was expecting it to be really heavy feels like 40-50 lbs. I'll cut the box open in a bit and take a look,it's too damn hot and humid in the garage right now.

One mounting bracket a little bent but that’s an easy fix just need to scuff up the parts and mix up some flat black to spray. It’s moving along !

Cleaning up and polishing the chrome parts I’m going to keep. I didn’t get the transfer case o rings and gaskets in yet. Going to paint the transfer case this weekend so it will be ready when the gaskets arrive

Picked up the rocker box covers today. The powder coater did a great job fixing them (as rough as they were) polished up the used cobra 2-1 exhaust I bought for 200. I will get the rocker boxes mounted and get some new photos I'm going to try to get the back wheel together this weekend and get it mounted

My compressor isn't big enough to run air tools for long or I would have gone after it with some 36 grit, just glad it's done that aircraft stripper stinks !
