  • Oil coolers on the triple tree

    Hello fellas,
    i have some bloody idea in my head...
    I would like to install oil collers on the triple tree...
    Between the coolers and adapter i like to install automatic jag 4050 bypass valve... The question is the oil pressure gonna be enough to reach the top ?
    Whats is your opinion?

    Honestly....dumbest idea I've seen for a Road Star. Ever. So overcomplicated and unnecessary and weird looking and more potential areas for problems to arise. Just absolutely unnecessary.

    Has your motorcycle ever overheated and shut itself down? Do you use full synthetic Vtwin oil? What made you think that your bike needs all this extra cooling? These bikes have been around since 1999 and have been ridden in the desert in 100 deg heat all the time without issue. Only way these bikes are gonna overheat when the idle is where it should be at and in a good state of tune...would be if idling for long periods of time in the heat, which is never a good idea.

    If you feel the need for liquid cooling you would honestly be better off with a Royal Star V4....great bikes ..hyd clutch...tons of hp...smooth...radiator....

      Last summer in the jam happened on the crosslight,but he start directly withiut problem. I decid eto hook up the cooler on the triple tree without to connect the hoses ...

    I know the fuel injected Roadstars will shut down when they get too hot. DK about the carbonated ones. If you're going for just looks, just bolt those coolers on and forget about the oil lines.

    I have had a check engine light come on trying to get through traffic in DFW. Just stop somewhere and let it cool down for around 1/2 hour and then back on the road. I am on a FI bike.

      if you have a over heat issue while riding in traffic get a parade fan. A cooler only really works when air is passing over the fins and that ain't happening while riding slow in traffic.

        Yamaha tried putting engine cooling up on the forks of dirt bikes in the early 80s.
        It was abandoned immediately.

        Forks move in relation to the frame/engine ... a lot.
        Far more than normal coolant & oil lines are designed to move unless you use brake lines or something designed specifically for high temperature hydraulics.
        You'll also probably need to modify them or have them custom made.

        The constant flexing will likely leak sooner than later & when it does, you will 'oil down' somewhere on the road.
        You can almost guarantee it won't be close to home.

                  I have already rear 240... 6 months ago i bought 300 swingarm,and the last week rear rim 10x18. Rear rim come with adapter for stock 300mm brake rotor. I need to save little bit more than i will order to friend of mine new custom steel rear fender for 300 tire and custom sissybar... I will post some pictures in the next few days.

                    No chaindrive i will keep the pulley. For the 240 i use Harley tiny belt, for 300 i have use same one or i can put the stock belt.

                          I see you have a 1999. The only time i had an issue with heat involved fuel vapor lock due to the fuel pump and the way that whole system was set up to the carb. Once I got rid of the pump I never had another problem with riding in hot weather and I live in NM.

                            I removed the fuel pump,plus i replace the stock carb with hsr42...im pretty happy with the bike and set up i have...
