  • California Meet?

    Hi all;

I don't know where most of you are from but I was wondering if there were several of us on this forum that are in California or near by. I'd like to do some kind of ride and meet this year, here with other RS riders. I'm in the central valley right between two arm pit cities, Bakersfield and Fresno. But would ride a ways to meet up with others that might want to do so.

So what are anyone's thoughts? Enough of us for a Cali meet?

Only a thousand miles or so for you to meet us in Orofino, ID this summer! Some are riding more than that to join us.

Second that statement, would be good to see you in Idaho.

If my pocket book was larger and available time off more abundant, I certainly would be there.

A group of us have met up in Holister on the Saturday before the 4th of July for the past 3-4 years. But it's just been for the day. I'm sure we'll do it again this year; you should join us. But as far as an official several day Meet and Greet, we haven't had one. Last summer I went up to Oregon for the North West M&G, but this year is in Idaho and I don't think I can make that.

You can make it, you need to road test that bike again.

Haven't heard yet if the Hollister Rally will happen this year. But if not, sounds like it would be a great meet up.

If you plan it they will come. Bump this thread a few times so more people see it. Should be some good riding around there I would think or a little bit North of there, Redding or Shasta area.

I tried to do this in Phoenix. Only 3 people signed on and only 1 of them showed.

I think the first NW Starfest had several sign ups but only 3 showed the first year.

Some of us also try to meet up at Street Vibrations in Reno the end of Sept. We usually spend Saturday of that weekend riding around hitting all the hot spots and then meet up in town that night, ride back Sunday.

I texted Jay [Ultrastar] earlier and he says he's sticking around for a couple more years and is up for Holister again.

I thought he might be history by now and living the good life in retirement. Would of been a little different without Jay. Look forward to seeing everyone this year.

LOL That flying deer did hit me... that is why it was flying. ;P
Yeah I am doing ok, haven't been able to ride much since the deer, I have hopes for this summer, but will be taking it slow and easy. My ribs and wrist still remind me constantly of the previous wreck back in may 2017...

Slow and easy, you will get back. Glad to see you on here. Hope you are both doing better these days.

Your neighborhood has some of my favorite rides; it doesn't take much to get me up there. I just have to replace my lifters, rebuild my forks, install my gold emulators, and rebuild my front calipers first. Then I'll be good to go.

Oh and i disagree about the armpits. Although I never spent time in Fresno or Bakersfield, LA and SF are the armpits of California. Redding area out hwy 44 either direction. Is nice. Hwy 36 is fun. To. We left santa rosa (hwy101) went to red bluff(I5) to fortuna (Hwy 36) then back to santa rosa. Nice long day trip.

I hope to get the lifters and calipers done this weekend if the weather is good. Not sure when I'll get the forks done. But It will happen.

Rob, I'm definitely up for a gold country run when the weather warms up. Maybe even a Fri-Sun mini M&G camp out if we can get others to join in.

Pretty much Gold Country to me... would be all along Hwy. 49 Placerville south to Yosemite. The whole Serria foothills area. We're up there it seems like most weekends riding around. One of the members here (MJ Score) has Google Maps for a memory and knows just about every back rode up there.

The camping trip sounds great, if I could figure out how to get camping stuff up to the hills. Obviously my bike is not made for packing a house on the back of it. Lol
