You should try heading out of Westport in a boat on the Grays River, during low tide, crossing the bar on the way to the open ocean.
Treacherous, even if the ocean is flat just beyond the bar. The Coast Guard was our friend in those days... Those guys were crazy-skilled and BRAVE. Their boats could literally survive a rollover.

Ya, coasties helped us into port a couple of times during really bad weather. We entered Westport on a flat calm day, leaving we had to stay right in the middle of the channel as getting just a few feet off was not an option. It's only 40 feet deep for like 3 miles or more out and thats in the channel.

The seasons motel is the only one in Morton Washington and rooms are $180.190 per night. Roy's motel and campground is temporarily closed. Last time I was by there it looked pretty ratty. That's where I stayed last time but I remember Mike and Jeanetta had no lock on their door. Or was that me and Sara?

I just spoke with Adam at the Konkleville Motel outside of Orofino Idaho and his rooms are 93 and 103 per night depending on the size of the room. He said he could probably block out 10 rooms for us at this date but wouldn't want to block out anymore. That doesn't mean we couldn't have more rooms, it's just that he's not willing to block out a group of rooms at this point. I forgot to ask him how many rooms he had total but I know it's a big motel. They also are still doing their Saturday night steaks on the patio. Rides would include Lolo pass, elk City and any others we could come up with.
I also spoke with Tim at the Riverside motel in spray Oregon and his rooms are about 95 per night but he only has seven rooms and the house which I forgot to ask how many can sleep in the house. He already has people booked for the 14th of July.
Another great place I remember was the church retreat and motel that Mike and Jay organized out of Harrisburg oregon. Maybe one of you can give them a call.
We need to decide soon as rooms are going to look fast.

Orofino was sure nice.... If we're getting that far away from Puyallup what about like Castle Rock or nearby small town that would still allow access to your rides?
It's not that life is so short, it's just that you're dead for so long.---unknown.

I was impressed with David's description of the belfair motel. Family run. I just spoke with the manager Cheyenne and she has 10 rooms booked for us. They have 28 rooms total. A single bed for three nights would be $303 and they have 14 of those rooms. A two bedroom is 337 for three nights and I don't know how many rooms they would have. There are cameras everywhere they have 10 ground floor rooms they have a concrete pad on one side but no longer have a barbecue grill but we could bring in our own. They are 5 minutes from belfair State Park where we could hang out. She can block the rooms until mid-February. I say we go for it. We are welcome to bring our own barbecue grill which David says he can bring in his trailer because he's only 20 minutes away.

I'm leaning towards Belfair Washington because it's in the area where I would like to ride. I'd like to decide by today or tomorrow. Just a reminder, whichever motel we choose, do not book online because it's much harder to cancel than if you book over the phone.

Looking at the Belfair Motel on google, there's a Brew company across the street and a community church next door, perfect! David will go check it out on Saturday and take photos but I suggest we have a show of hands ASAP and make a decision by tomorrow.

Being that’s it’s the 10th year we should make it special. This thing started in Washington and makes sense to do it there for the 10th. However we shouldn’t compromise anything just to have it in Washington. I do not want to be riding in Seattle at all it has zero appeal for me. Having to deal with any of the freeways up there for any long period of time in a group has Zero appeal for me. So as long as we are not compromising the ride and what Starfest is just to have it in Washington I’m fine with it. As long as the hotel is decent and in a good area and I don’t have to shoot a tweaker for touching the bikes it’s fine with whatever we decide.

A lot of information has been posted on this thread today so be sure and read it all. I just got a call back from the manager at the Belfair Motel and she made a state mistake on the prices she gave me because she put in April instead of July but it's still not that big a deal. For a single bedroom for three nights it would be $330 and for a two-bedroom for three nights it would be $370.
Though I talked to Adam at the Konkleville hotel outside of Orofino idaho, I received a voicemail back from Ray who I believe might be the manager. He was just following up and indicated that he would give us a 10% discount on the prices that Adam gave us.
What say y'all? I can do anything and would not be offended if somebody else came up with a comparable plan and location. We need to make a decision quick before rooms are booked by other folks. Let us all know your preference and even if you don't have a preference let us know.
