I should be leaving Avilla Indiana at 7:00 in the morning this Thursday unless I get breakfast first. Hopefully get down to the hotel by 10:00 p.m. or so. Figure I'll stop every 150 mi for gas or so
I'll be bringing probably 10 of my aluminum enricher covers with the Road Star Clinic logo on them in case anyone wants to purchase one down there...

Do you happen to have any enricher covers left? If you do, slip one in your pocket and I'll get it from you in Eureka Springs.

I'm going to trailer again this year. Will be leaving Thursday morning hopefully around 6/6:30 and arrive at the KOA early/mid afternoon.

Safe travels to everyone. I'm getting excited as well to see everyone again.

winterizing bike for my mid-October trip 700 mi from Northeast Indiana to Eureka Springs Arkansas. Installed my wind block hand guards, seat heater, and lowers. Probably will be okay down in Arkansas but it got down in the '20s this week up here lol

If your weather is anything like Iowa you will want that extra gear. Safe travels.

Well everything finally came together as to work not having anything major this next weekend that I absolutely have to be there for, none of my Techs absolutely have to have it off (still very short-handed), my wife is feeling pretty good - in fact going to KC to spend a week with the two youngest kids, and Thad even texted me a reminder in plenty of time!! Took the bike out for a warm up and shake down, came home with a fork seal puking oil . . . . . . [email protected]#$%&^!. No way I am going to be able to procure and change seals in the next few days to be able to make it this year. I know the seals just dried up from my lack of riding her. I have only put on about 1100 miles total in the last 2 years, with working and everything else going on. It's probably safer for the rest of you if I don't show anyway. Here in Central Kansas, the only practice I can do for the Arkansas curves is our on and off ramps, LOL. I am more than a little rusty.

Ya'all have fun now, and ride safe! I do miss the get together!

Is this how Phil feels????? LOLOLOL

Take a seal cleaner (thin plastic to jam down in the area between seat and fork) and clean the area out real good and see if that stops the leak). Sometimes a little bit of dirt and debris gets in there because the seal dries up and it allows fluid to come out because it's basically making a small barrier between the rubber seal that is a little dry and the fork itself. If you clean that out really well with some real thin plastic and then spray a little lube on the outside of that seal it might seal it up enough for a ride

Got mine all cleaned up last night and loaded. I'm going to cheat and trailer it down. You've got a pretty good haul from there. Ride safe and hopefully this wind dies down and the temps remain decent.

It's weird packing very minimal tools since I no longer have a carburetor lol.But I do have a nice complete tire patch kit and a tire inflator air compressor that plugs in to my adapter for the battery tender. Got to try to get some extra sleep tonight and head out early and get down to my hotel before it gets too damn late tomorrow. Are we all meeting for breakfast somewhere on Friday morning?

700 miles and over 14 hours on the road...Avilla Indiana down to Eureka Springs Arkansas. Wind was terrible ..two semis knocked over and caused my mpg to drop a ton! I go 85-90 on the highway...got 25-28mpg. full windshield set to the tallest position, desert dawgs on crash bars and hand deflectors on throttle and grip side caught a lot of wind also. Going to soak in jacuzzi tub at hotel to get warmed up and then go to bed.

Fantastic time. Thanks to Brad G for having that spare tire on hand for me lol. Our hosts made absolutely wonderful food for us on the grill. It's slow going getting back to Indiana It's absolutely freezing out and I'm stopping every 60 mi or so to warm up. Eating some good old gas station food right now about a hundred miles outside of Indianapolis

Glad I was able to help out. I didn't expect anyone to need a tire. But it wasn't doing anything in my shop (was going to put it on this winter) and I had room in the trailer to drag it along. Gave me a chance to practice changing the tire for when I do mine!

              • #56
Brad if you need you can put me on speaker to give some positive hillbilly commentary while you change your tire. I’m sure it helps.

Still not home. Had to stop last night due to snow and rain and ice in Indianapolis. Got up this morning and headed out got as far as Gas City started raining pretty good so I pulled over it up Burger King drinking coffee. It was 68° Sunday in Avilla and now it's in the '20s.But the bike is performing flawlessly I have to say that.

Stay safe out there, 20's is too cold to be out riding, but what do I know, I live in Texas where it's stil in the 40's.

I'm not very good about taking pictures so don't have many to share. I do have a little app I enjoy that tracks where I've been and where the pictures were taken. Here's a look at where I went on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The link will take to a web page with a video flyover (my favorite part), a map, and any pictures I took at the time.

                Friday - https://www.relive.cc/view/vLqeJGKPDRv

Saturday - https://www.relive.cc/view/vmqXB29MzLO (I was also pleased to see we had a couple of Botanist studying the local greenery)

                Sunday - https://www.relive.cc/view/vrqo38Dk3Kq

As with anything, it seems like it takes so long for the event to get here, and then it's over in the blink of an eye. But I sure enjoy getting to visit and ride with such good people. I'm already looking forward to '23.

DEEPHATE it was a good time. Maybe you should come down and join us sometime.

Actually one of the guys at Eureka Springs is from Burlington area. He's kicking around the idea of an Iowa event (he did one several years ago). If he does I'll make sure to reach out.

MidnightRide it is very beautiful countryside. And yes you can ride some river valley and mountains both in short spans. It's a lot of fun for sure. Here in the cornfields of Iowa everything is straight until you get along the rivers.

After some discussion before everyone left, we all decided to set the dates of October 6th-8th (Friday-Sunday).
Karen and I are planning to arrive 10/4 (Wed) and leaving 10/9 (Mon).
