I’ve never been one to pay attention to fuel prices because it is what it is, when I was low on fuel and budget I slowed down or stopped. The last couple of years has blinded me more because unless I’m packed I rarely go past the hardware store a couple miles away, consequently I’m more then a month between fill ups. Last week I empty a gas can into a 4wheeler so I can get fresh fuel to clea flush the toy hauler fuel tank in anticipation of things to come. I looked at the pump as the can was about full, making sure I get 5 gallons…. All I saw was $27 and climbing. That’s a formal bitch slap right there! I knew I was paying more for milk and meat but I guess thats what I get for unplugging the tv last year. Just the same I’ll leave it unplugged.
That said I hadn’t considered the fuel cost of running to ES until after I made that reservation this morning and ran the miles to get road time. Then fuel came to mind. 2800 miles…. The cummins might get 10mpg with the toybox behind, an easy $1500 with snacks. Might as well fly and rent a bike, but flying these days is a punishment. I do need to scrub out the new shoes after that last visit to AR so maybe do the bun burner 15, ‘only’ $400 in fuel and memories!

is there a novice or slow group? my riding skills are nowhere near yalls level.

earlier in the month, i was in north carolina with a bunch of scooter and vespa folks. i barely kept up with their slow group in the mountains with my current skill level on a scooter. though i had no problems on the straightaways and winding curves. just the doglegs, hairpins and gravel/road debris did my tail end pucker up. that said i had fun.

Shot round I will lead a group if needed. We can go slow on easy roads.
Even the regular rides are slow and easy going.
Once in a while a few will get after it in the twistiest then wait for the others to catch up or lag behind then hit it in the twistiest. Many have been here several times and can lead a group. You’ll find this very laid back.

Nobody gets crazy stupid. Most who show up are plenty "seasoned" so you'll have a chance to learn from some good folks.

Many of us stay at the KOA campground. That's generally been the central meeting place/starting point.

The Dr isn't happy with the rebuilt knee. I have replacement surgery coming on the 22nd of this month. I might ride up, it kinda depends on what the MO has going on and maybe even something in the general area.

I forgot, I might not be able to ride in time to attend. That would suck since I just got back to riding 2 months ago but it is what it is. Which reminds me, I still have not found a woman in a bikini to get a photo of touching my bike, lol.

Booked at the Candlewick Inn....6.4 miles from KOA. Ill arrive late Thursday and check out 11am Monday. I'll be the one on a flamed out 2008 Road Star....

Yep 700 mi one long day of riding. I hope to be on the road by 8:00 a.m. at the latest and hope to be at the hotel by 11:00 p.m. Figure I'll have to make five or six stops for gas along the way. This damn fuel injected bike does not get great gas mileage. Only about 38 mix of highway and in town. And when I go on trips I usually go 80 or 90 mph so my gas mileage will probably be about 34 I imagine. So I'll be stopping every 125 mi for gas. But my room has a Jacuzzi tub so I can get over the soreness of riding so much in one day!

If I ride around 75 and do a lot of highway miles, my milage usually increases to around 44 mpg from the usual 39 that I get around town and short trips. I am also riding a fuelie.

The past few years I've trailered down so I'm not beat to death when I get there (plus I bring my coffee maker and other conveniences of home). But might ride this year. Going to wait until closer to see what the weather outlook shows before I decide. In 2019 it was 40 degrees and light mist ALL DAY on the way down. I followed fastjohnny and Warden down in my truck. They froze their asses off. I felt bad driving...but damned if I wasn't at least warm.....

Do the hotel booking folks know the KOA has cabins as well as stocked caravans? Could be reserved out but they do have 10 or 12 available… Wait…. They did before rehab and I missed that intro so maybe not.
They must if Karen and Steve have reservations…. Where’s my beer~

We will be in the same cabin at the KOA we've used the last several years. We expect to be in Thursday around 2pm or so. Really looking forward to seeing everyone!
