So I think i will be heading over and staying in Redmond/Prineville area on the 21st, then heading to Baker city on the 22nd don't know for sure yet i may ride all the way on Thursday. Not sure if any of you are doing the same or if you are going through Prineville on the 22nd. If so let me know maybe we can meet up there or somewhere near there and ride to Baker City together. .

There is a group leaving Sweet Home Thriftway at 10:57am on that Thursday. They plan to take Hwy20 the whole way. I'm still not sure which way I'm going. I wanted to be out of town earlier than that.

If I leave on that Thursday I’ll be leaving a lot earlier than that too……it’s a plus 8 hrs for me to get there. That’s why I was thinking of leaving on Wednesday and staying somewhere in the Redmond/Prineville area then over to Baker City on Thursday…..

Baker City is a cool little town. We've pulled off the freeway there a couple of times just to check it out. Historic buildings.

This meet has been too far off for us to plan, for good reason. Anne's job constantly calls her out on short notice and flies her around the planet for different details. Since last week she's been in California, will be in Hawaii soon, then back to Cali, and home. She was slated to be home on the 21st, so no doubt she'd be wary of traveling that or the next day. I didn't even tell her about this.

I considered going solo and was leaning that route, but Anne's schedule was changed today so now she'll be back on the 19th. I told her about this trip today, and she first said, likely feeling guilty, that she'd stay home with the dog and I should go by myself. In the next breath she suggested she follow me down in the van so we could take our Rottweiler with rather than them both staying home. Our dog travels well and is always with us on our road trips.

That left me thinking that maybe I should just trailer the bike down and we'd have the trailer on hand should anyone need a lift. A few months back we drove up on a Harley rider and passenger who got too hot into a curve and wedged the bike under a guard rail, and we just happened to have our nearly-empty utility trailer in tow. They were camping/vacationing nearby, so we loaded the bike and took them back to their rig.

I don't know how these things go, but having a chase rig on hand might be handy with a couple of dozen riders. Anne truly doesn't mind sweeping the rear. Her butt doesn't like the longer rides. I could toss in tools, a big ice chest, generator, haul extra gear or whatever with the rig, or we could leave them at the motel, knowing it was there if needed. We have AAA ourselves. In cool weather we could leave the dog in the rig and ride 2-up.

I wouldn't pull my large trailer, I'd get one of those light U-Haul motorcycle trailers which run around $15 a day. We'll have to book a room soon once we decide.

First I'll need to get to the bottom of the fuel issue I'm having with my bike.

Otherwise I'll just ride down that way. It's only a five hour ride, but a boring one at that...

Any thoughts on the benefits of having a chase van and trailer?

I'll be leaving this Saturday and riding with Eric to Pullman Washington, 300 miles. Then we will ride 250 miles to Missoula, then 250 miles to McCall Idaho to hang out on the lake. We will spend 3 days there and then leave on Thursday the 22nd for Baker City.

Pullman to Missoula over Lolo Pass? If so you might want to watch the road status. The visitor center is closed, and Hwy 12 is open but "Motorists on U.S. Highway 12 are urged to use caution while traveling this route due to changing fire conditions."

Does anybody have an extra needle and jet kit they can bring just in case we need to reject Eric's 2006? We don't know what is in there right now and are leaving tomorrow to join our wives in McCall Idaho first. It runs pretty good but it may be running a little rich.

No Mark L has never attended. But you have a good memory, that was Mark S. I rode with him and Garrett last year in June on a 4-day trip to idaho, Montana and oregon.

The Ride along the Flathead River into Missoula was fantastic but a little smoky. Lolo Pass from Missoula to Kooskia Idaho was fantastic as usual but also smokey. Figured that was what it would look like if I had cataracts. Then from Kooskia to McCall Idaho also very majestic along the Salmon river. We stopped for a break in Grangeville and when we came out I noticed Eric's rear tire was flat with a nail. Luckily we were about 100 yards from a great independent motorcycle repair shop where we got it fixed. He and I took the fender and bags off as one unit and then the guy put it on the jack and remove the wheel and put in a new tube which he miraculously had the correct size. We were delayed a couple hours but got into some great sprinkle of rain which cleared the air. Enjoyed a nice clear sunset in McCall Idaho. We will go watch one of our relatives do some team roping tomorrow. This is a view from our back deck toward Lake Payette. Darrel and Mike may join us for lunch at the lake house on Thursday and then we'll head to Baker City.
