My seat? It's an ED Big Touring seat. I love it! Google Erdody Designs and you'll find the website.

I tell you this thing was absolutely filthy when I picked it up and it's going to take me days to knock off all the road grime before it can really shine, but even as bad as it is, she still turned heads.

I know there’s been discussions on here before about the RS not being well suited for long trips (deerkiller especially has commented), is the RL a full fledge long distance bike?

or maybe the question could be what are the major differences between the two for long distance rides?

        Beautiful bike BTW!

Until recently I've been limited to short excursions around town due to a major road construction project being done on our one and only road out of here. That changed last week when they finally laid the remaining 3 miles of blacktop giving me easy access to more seat time and longer runs. Taking advantage of that open road allows me to postulate on the Pros and Cons of the Roadliner/Stratoliner that may be helpful to those considering this addition to their riding stable.

          On the Pro side.
This is a bigger bike and that means more room for you plus sized guys.
It's power plant will haul you and your missus down the road with ease.
You've got LOTS of power at your command!
          It's engine is unbelievably smooth.
The Strat bags are massive, so you have plenty of storage space.
The quick change setup for windscreen, fairing and passenger backrest is a major plus.

          On the Con side
This is a big bike, so small guys like me (anyone under 6'2") will HAVE to make changes to the handlebar and seat setup...unless you've got gorilla arms.
Less fuel capacity means more stops
A bigger engine means more fuel stops.
It's NOT a canyon carver, handling is noticeably less nimble then you're used to.
A five speed gearbox and freeway cruising...need I say more?
Not many options available for tires and accessories.
An ECU re-flash is your only option in terms of performance upgrades...this can be a serious drawback for guys that like to tinker.

If you're a big guy and want a stock bike for around town and back country riding that offers you plenty of options right out of the box then you can't go wrong with the Roadliner/ Stratoliner especially for the price (I paid less than 4k for this one).
