  • 2005 FJR1300 Gen1 New to me 2nd bike

    I have wanted one of these since I rode one two years ago.
    It's Gen1 non ABS 28k on the clock.

    That is an unguided highway missile! Two of my riding buddies ride FJ's. Very fast and smooth. You will find yourself going well above the limit without even trying! Enjoy......carefully.

        Wait till you get use to it. I can take curves a good 20 mph faster on my connie than my HD

        Yes sir. Now that is a bike made for trips and the curvy fun roads. Definitely need to ride that thing to the mountains and hang with us. You’ll get used to it pretty quick I think.

      It's impressive how much Yamaha stuffed under the tank. Got the top end apart and doing a 30k service in it. Glad it cold outside.

        It has a power comander III on it.
        Keep it or lose it?
        And it has after market cruse control and heated grips.

          If it has an aftermarket exhaust and especially if it has a K&N or some other non stock air filter, the Power Commander is most likely a good idea. Although I don’t have any experience with those bikes personally. Only way to truly tell is to have it put on a dyno and have the AFR checked for optimal performance.

          I run a Power Commander 5 on my R1 becuse of intake/exhaust mods. It needs it. You also need to get rid of the AIS to get a proper dyno reading (for AFR). Not sure what the procedure is for an FJR but it’s quite the task on my R1.

          Power Commander also has generic maps you can load based on certain intake/exhaust mods. They will usually keep you in a safe zone and be ‘close enough’ to optimal performance (usually a tad rich) that you won’t notice a difference if it’s missing a HP or 2

            The cans in the pic is what is on it. No name on them that I can find. Air filter looks to be stock.
            The PO got it this way and he knows nuttin about it. The plugs have a lot of carbon on them.
            AIS gone. (blocked off before I got It.)

          I love the FJRs. I didn't expect to like them as much until I rode my brother's for about 100 miles along the Wolf River in Northern Wisconsin.
          That bike just DARED me to see how fast I could rip through the curves. LOL

          Slipon kinda looks like either a White or Two Brothers.
          Could be a Yoshi, I doubt it's an Akropovik.

            The slipons are marked very faint on the back. They are Dale Walkers Holeshot Proformance.

              Very nice looking ride. It reminds me of my sons BMW. You will definitely enjoy how nimble it is. It might take a little to get used to quick response. Enjoy.

                Usually just a slip on exhaust doesn’t require a Power Commander fuel management system. They usually err on the side of rich with their custom maps. It would be worth it to me to take it to a dyno shop to see what the AFR looks like with/without the PC3. If it looks decent, remove it. One less thing to go wrong. Might get better gas mileage also. On the other hand, it might be better with it. Never know until you see the numbers.

                  update.After looking at the parts diagram I have determand that this bike has a full Holeshot performance exhaust on it.

                Love the bike. I have been eyeballing the FJ1300 for about the last year. Would love to hear your opinions on it from after the first few rides and after you have ridden it for a while.
                owning a motorcycle is not a matter of life or death, it is much more important than that

                  The FJR1300 is a high powered sportbike that you can ride on a 1000 mile roadtrip & not feel like you should consider giving up riding motorcycles. LOL

                  Cike, If we ever get above 40 degrees F here in the NE and I get my service manual (USPS is very slow right now) so I cen put this thing back together I might be able to ride it.
                  I'm checking the valve clearence and i need the spec from the book. Cleaning the carbs. There is a top water pipe comes out of the head needs replacing and O-rings.
