  • Cobra Speedster Longs modified roughly 15in

Good evenin’ y’all. Haven’t been on in awhile since I had the issue of bike runnin’ poorly from previous owner installing a PC5. Since removal, she’s still runnin’ like a champ thanks to the knowledge of y’all on here, thank you.
Anyways, since I’ve had the Roadie from April this year, I hadn’t really cared for the looks of these Cobras bein’ long out to the aft end of rear tire. I love the look of long pipes on a true-dual setup, but not on a staggered configuration. So, with my expertise as an aviation metal smith in the USCG, I went ahead n’ modified them in the shop the other day, cutting away roughly 15in. Wanted to go even shorter, but was concerned with enough length to keep optimum back pressure & continue to use the aft bracket for support so the heads don’t carry all the weight of the exhaust. I proceeded to take measurements & cut just a hair aft of the rear bracket. The heat shields I mistakenly cut a tad shorter, but overall I think it looks purdy clean. Burnished the edges of both exhaust n’ heat shields smooth. Drilled 3in in for reinstall of my Big City Thunder Monster baffles. Let me tell ya, she sounds even meaner & doesn’t skip a beat at all.

    God Bless,
    Jason

That does look good! Nice job. I guess they aren't technically "longs" any more...

Your bike looks good with the modified pipes. I like what you've done to them, especially the heat shields being cut back a little shorter than the pipes.

Hey, thanks bubba. Yeah, with the actual pipes havin’ a golden tip, it’s kinda wearin’ on me now.

Looks good!! Before my duals I had a set of Hard Krome 3 in. straights that I shortened so I could use my Dchopper bag brackets. It looks like you did a better job than I did. Nice work.

Thanks bubba. As I’ve mentioned, long pipes look great for trual duals, but not so much in a staggered config, IMO.
