  • XV1600 turbo

Let's make a topic about this puppy on the new site also. Bike was turbocharged two years ago, and is now ready for summer 2018 except for the rear shock that can't be fixed. So... if anybody has a working rear shock left over for sale, please let me know! I'm supposed to take the bike to a show 20.4.2018 so i'm in a little hurry since the 465 progressive shock is out of my budget due to new paint job etc.
You can send email or PM.

Just ordered rev master for the bike. Let's see if 800rpm makes a difference in turbo setup. Also gonna order 31tooth front pulley, unless somebody is selling one here? After these next i should upgrade brakelines and dyna coils.

I wouldn’t worry about the coils, unless the stock coils have failed. Why waste the money?
      800rpms, will seem huge.
Going to the stainless braided brake line improves the feel of the brakes according to what’s been posted here.

What did you do about your rear shock that this thread was originally about?

Spend the money for a shock on the other items listed...

Contact Smokescreens here on the site and get a Roadwing shock. Way better and less expensive.

Are you in Europe? There's some video of a turbo R* running through the countryside chasing sport bikes; is that you?

The rear shock broke last summer in Norway due to bad roads and loaded bike. I already got a stock shock to start with, but it's stuck in customs in Chicago.
Many people say the steel brake lines make all the difference in brake feeling. The power is enough, but the feel is like squeesing a rubber ball.
Well although my bike made about 92hp and 175Nm from the tire, it's way too low to hassle sportbikes except in take off. The video i know has a turbo warrior in it. It's way better in corners. With higher limiter i should get easily over 100hp from wheel. On turbo warrior it made about 10hp per 250rpm if i remember correctly.
Plus the 31 tooth pulley should make a good acceleration boost.

Ok so i put the stock shock back on even if it's lost it's life. At least i can ride . Bike works great. Can't wait to get the 31 tooth pulley! The bike feels sooo fast already after my 83 hj60 land cruiser ! I thought something broke already when the battery wouldn't take power, but it turned out the connector of the rectifier reciever was loose.
Also the starter problem consists. It won't turn over every time and i need to push the starter twice before it starts to turn the engine. Starter insides have been replaced recently. It almost feels like the decompression solenoid wouldn't work although it does move normally....

So my '99 I always had to push the start button twice to get the engine turning. Had starter rebuilt along with adding heavy gauge wires and checking all connections as well as checking the decomp solenoid. Finally got another starter and works fine now. I am stock compression. There is also an upgrade for the start solenoid? or relay that people like and the stator upgrade as well, have to check in the tech section. The tubro is really cool though.
It's not that life is so short, it's just that you're dead for so long.---unknown.

Damn, wouldn't want to buy a new starter to fix that issua But i did order the 31 tooth pulley. Can't wait for it! Though it's gonna be a long wait .

Before you start replacing things, I'd check the contact points in the starter switch. [My 99 has the same problem] They become dirty over time and don't always make contact. Just be carful when you take it apart because theres a spring inside that could fly out.

One way to avoid that spring launching out is to not remove it, just loosen everything.
Then hit it with DeOxIt spray. It will chemically remove all the corrosion, clean the metal & protect it from further corrosion.
Until I used it the first time I couldn't believe the stories about how well it works, but nothing else does what DeOxIt does.
MUCH better than any 'contact cleaner', by a long shot. Not cheap, but a little goes a very long way.

Thanks for the tip! Thats one of the things i haven't checked yet. Battery, cables and connections, strarter solenoid, decompressor... These i have checked.

I haven't completely fixed the starting problem since now i have a battery charging issue. It's always been a bit lazy to turn the engine except with booster or fully charged battery. So now i'm going to order new stator and rectifier package. I'm done playing with lazy charge.
on the bright side, i got my 31 tooth pulley and dynatek rrvmaster. I'm putting the the pulley but have to wait with the revmaster until i get every electrical problem solved.

Ok. Got the new pulley in place and DAMN! First i felt that meh.... But when twisting the throttle, and measuring with gps i found out it's totally worth it.
0-100kmh is 4-4,6s with every pull on moist tarmac. Stock pulley was 5,3s best. Now 200m was 8,7s and 143km/h with one pull.
The rpm is even better when doing 100kmh and speedo is only 8kmh high.
I believe that with revmaster giving 800rpm more, i can do under 4s at best since now 2nd gear is just short from 100km/h.
                      Best freaking mod ever!

Ok so i fixed the charging problem and i feel sooooo stupid. Feeling frustrated i already ordered new stator.
Before it arrived (lucky for me) i measured every possible item and everything is fine. Finally pintpointed the problem to the already shady looking connector of rectifier. I though i checked it well enough but no.
Well the bike works great now and even weather is beautiful!

The problem went away only for days with the connector. The stator measured normal when not running, but while running, one of the pins gave almost no reading. Changed the atator and now it shows 13.5 while idling and even a little rpm 14.3. waiting for the new rectifier also so there are no electronic components that can fail now.

Best to change Stator and Rectifier as a Package just because.

Well the electric problems are gone, so i installed the the rev master i bought earlier. Easy install and gives alot more rpm. Almost was afraid to test revving to the limiter since it felt so high rpm.
just barely goes to 100km/h on 2nd gear. But the bike keeps pulling nicely all the way to limiter. According to gps the best 0-100 was 3,5s but i doubt that. Still faster than last time, thats for shure

there's a 2nd gear pull from idle. Don't have a helmet cam or anything so i can't really take video from 0-100 or anything.

Next thing for me is to start making the lok of the bike just a little bit more hot rod like. For this i designed headlamp visor with hot rod style holes, and both front and rear fender extensions with holes. Matte black of course

https://vimeo.com/276703133 Did a little walkaround after a short ride. It's mid summer here and it poured water for days. Today was the first day to actually test the bike with working rear shock, that finally arrived after about 4 months Also a tightened the steering bearing.
