New Pipes

Got the new pipes on the bike. Switched to the Cobra Pro HP 2-ino-1 system. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet due to the rain, but I like the sound at idle. Has a deeper tone than the old Hard Khrome pipes and not quite the bark when reving.

I have always liked the sound of the Hard Krome Road Burners. Does the Cobra pipes make more torque?

Don't know yet. I just got the bike back together today and it's been raining, so I haven't been able to take it for a ride. Will keep you posted.

Any 2 into 1 will give you a few more ponies if mated with big air, ported manifold and a properly tuned carb, done wrong will not do any good for more power.

are the cobras significantly louder than stock? im looking to keep the neighbors friendly....then again im only 140-145lbs with gear. its already got all the power needed.

Yes, most everything is louder than stock.

Bike runs like a striped assed ape!! Not sure where the credit lies, but a combination of the new pipes, rejetting the carb and replacing the broken choke/enricher cable has made a world of difference.
Running down the highway the Cobras don't seem to be as loud as the old Dual Sideburners, but they still have a nice sound. I think I'm gonna like the change.

Put up some pictures! I've been saving coin to get me the same system. Happy to hear they perform and sound well. I love the look of it too - it is very "classic" aesthetically for a 2into1 - it isn't as flashy and flamboyant as others I have seen - and for a good price.

I am likely going to go through S&S - where did you get yours from?

What is your air filter set up? sounds like we'll be pretty similar mod-wise. I am running:
- barons needle on the 4th groove
- 175 main, 40 pilot
- PMS 2.5ish turns out
- ported manifold
- K&N RA-067V
- AIS delete
- pump delete with the grizzly 3.0 needle/seat
- float height set up a few mm above the bowl mating surface - when sitting level on a jack

Unfortunately, it is still snowing like hell here, so it will be a while before I get to ride, also.

I got the pipes from Revzilla. Best price I found at the time.
My air filter is a Mikuni K&N clamp-on, but I had to make a bracket and add spacers so it would bolt to the cylinder heads in the stock location. I got it on eBay years ago. I attached a pic of the filter. Not my actual filter, but a pic I found online. The threaded studs on the back of the filter are covered (in the pic) but that's where I attached the bracket I made.

The air cleaner cover is from the Arlen Ness Big Sucker kit I put on when I first removed the stock air box.

And yes, our setups look very similar. I'm running a 172.5 main and a #40 pilot with the Suzuki needle seat and 2.5 out on the PMS.

Great pipes. Have them on my 08 Roadstar. Much lighter than the stock and a significant increase in performance

Nice. Access to the transfer case plug is a plus. That's one thing I don't like about my V&H Shortshots. Not that I've ever checked my transfer case fluid level ( 6 years ).

is there room to get an o2 sensor bung mounted on the front pipe?

Yes, but you'd need to place it between the heat shield clamps, but there is plenty of room. I've attached a pic looking straight down at the pipes.
