  • New Ape Hangers

So it’s been a long time since I logged in after I came real close to selling my bike. I had a very close call with a Lincoln Navigator in February that pulled out in front of me. By the grace of God I didn’t have to lay my bike down but It rattled me bad enough that I didn’t ride for 7 months. I decided to put a set of 14” Burly Brand apes on her to help sell and couldn’t bring myself to sell it once they were on. I’ve since gotten over my fear of riding and I’m leaving on my first overnight trip to my hometown in GA on Monday. I love how the bars turned out so just wanted to share.

Thanks, I went with the 14’s because my bike already had some extended cables on it due to the Big Johnson bars the previous owner installed. It allowed me to use the cables with just some rerouting. 14’s were the tallest I could do and still use the brake line that was already on my bike.

Thanks. I went to a dealer to buy my first bike last year, a Harley fat bob, and saw this sitting there. With everything that had been done to this bike and the price I couldn’t turn it down.

You chose a nice one for sure. What year is it? I have an 04 and nearing 100000 kms. Great bikes these are.

It’s a 2004 also with just over 31,000 miles on it. I’ve only put about 400 miles on it in the past year. The previous owner put a 160/60r18 tire on the rear with the wider wheel. Talk about sticker shock when I replaced it last week! The tire I replaced looked fine but it was a hair over 6 years old and I didn’t want to take a chance with me leaving in the morning for trip to GA.

Only a few things I encountered with my bike. Had clutch slip at highway speeds while rolling on. You can feel it sorta cut in and out. Replaced with Barnett spring plate conversion. This past August the stator failed. Waited 3 weeks for replacement but we still had a good fall for riding. Other than those 2 things, regular maintenance has been done. Gonna rebuild my forks and steering bearing soon before snowmobile season starts. Ride safe! JC

Damn! That looks *good* Solo. Seriously, so much to like about that build. So which gets you more attention, the R* or the Indian? Also, what kind of bag guards are those and how did you mount them? Go any more photos?

So is that attention from other people when he goes out for a ride or from him ridding one more than the other???
