  • Y’all wish me luck

I’m working on a deal for my next project. It’s a 1951 Ford F1 truck. It comes with a very good flat head V8 and a whole bunch of parts from a 52 F5. The truck is stripped for restoration and has sat indoors for years untouched. My dream ride has always been a 51 or 52 Ford. I’m pretty excited even though we haven’t made the deal official we do have a verbal agreement. Work schedules are making this hard to pull off.

Right up the road is an old flat head guru that’s a world of knowledge. He also knows where to find parts. I’m getting excited.

I like the 53 to 56’s also and the 48 to 50’s but the 51 and 52 steal my heart. Nice pics.

I had a '49 with a 351 Windsor and automatic trans out of an early 1970's Ford wagon. As cool as that flathead may seem, you really ought to consider ditching it for something more modern. There's a reason they have 2 water pumps, could have used 3. Not to mention they are somewhat gutless. Find you a healthy 390 and wake that bad boy up!

Father I have a GT40 302 if I decide to go that route. I’ve always wanted a hot rod fatty. I just think they look cool and sound neat.

You have a GT40? Would be cool to see a picture of that. Those are way cool.

Yea that would work out quite nicely. I have played around with Ford flatheads of that vintage. They like to run hot, at least in the Texas heat they did. I had one in a 1949 Tudor. original motor, spent a lot of money on it trying to make it run cool but nothing seemed to help. Pop said I was fighting a losing battle, eventually sold it as a non-running project, just like I bought it. I hope you have better luck with yours if you go that way. They do have a unique sound to them that's quite pleasing.

I saw one of those today , in metallic green flake, followed by a '38 Dodge. If I didn't have priorities, I would have followed them to find out where they were gathering.

Yes it’s a 5.0 roller motor out of an explorer. The best of the standard 5.0’s

Both awesome videos. I love the sound of old flat heads. That Harley was badass. I have a 1938 Allis Chalmers crawler with a big flat head 6. I really liked that Harley and Caddy v8 but the Ford in the first video is king. Thanks
