  • Non M/C: Am I getting old or are these things ridiculous? Costco "skinny" jeans?

I'm not exactly a fashion plate, I've been wearing Kirkland jeans for years, you can't beat the price and the quality is good. But when I went to Costco to get me a new pair, apparently they no longer make them??? However, they had another brand of jeans [izod] for $14, so I figured why not. But when I get home and finally try them on, these damn things are like *tights*! They're elastic so they're always tight on your legs. Am I just getting old or are these things ridiculous? I feel like an idiot wearing them. ...Now get the hell of my God Damned lawn!

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, *they're designed that way*. Doesn't matter if you're a 32 or a 52, they are stretchy because they're meant to be *tight*. Hence the "skinny jeans* part, or do you not know what those are?

Just pokin' at ya Doc. I wear Wranglers or Rustlers myself.
They're more expensive, but they come in several different 'cuts'.

LOL! My story is the same as yours I took them back and the return lady wasn't surprised, I bet we see our old buddys back in there before long.

I sure hope so. At $13 they were hard to beat.

I only buy Key jeans now. Very well made, and very cost effective.

Do they have any Tractor Supply Company stores out there in Californee? That's where I buy Wranglers, good, old fashioned quality Wranglers. They even have them in my size (enormous). But, they are around $50 now, but I have some well over 10 years old that are just starting to look good.

I'm with ya on the thrift store jeans. They are about $2-$3 and already broke in. If/when I ruin a pair (and I will) working it is no big deal just throw them out and buy another pair for a couple bucks. I haven't bought a "new" pair in years.

The fashion industry is trying to feminize men. The next are stretchy t shirts with a free man bra.

I do remember back in the 80s, in the heavy metal scene, "pegged" jeans were a thing. They'd take regular jeans, and tapper the legs so they were tight down to your ankles, like these skinny jeans, but that was never my thing.

society is trying to feminize men. so many people today cant figure out what bathroom to use and there is a growing rediculous trend of parents calling babies "theybies" that way you dont oppress the childs right to choose a gender. makes me want to puke. if you want to be gay i dont give a flying ____. but dont think for a second i will ever call a dude a chick or vice versa.

To answer your original question: yes & yes.
Tractor Supply is the place...their "Schmidt" brand (C. E. Schmidt was the founder of Tractor Supply) jeans are hard to beat.
Very well made from heavy denim, they're $25.00 a pair in Georgia.

I usually get my jeans from Wallyworld, (either Wrangler or Faded Glory), usually in black (for wearing at work...they don't show the dirt, grease and rubber dust as much). I usually try to get the 'comfort fit', but this last time, had to settle for 'regular fit' (they didn't have my size in black). I've lost a bit of weight , going from a 46-48" waist to a 42". Unfortunately, this last batch of jeans have two changes that are a bit difficult to adjust to... low rise in the back, so, with the two-way radio that I have to wear at work, it feels like the jeans are constantly trying to fall down around my ankles, and they no longer have the little 'watch pocket',which I use to carry some of those yellow disposable earplugs, and fingernail clippers (always breaking the nails, and they keep catching on things!).
One problem that I have in buying ANY kind of pants, is the inseam size.... my inseam is 29", so usually, I have to get pants/jeans with 30" inseams, and, I swear, these things ALWAYS are too long....even if I turn the cuffs up! They are a bit long in length, but seem to be short in the waist, and have been for decades! I found some 29" inseam jeans at Cabella's that were on clearance (they are not going to carry them anymore), and, besides the 'low rise' they have one more feature that I discovered that are taking a bit of time to get used to (and these are regular blue denim)...the front pockets are so deep, the almost go to my knees!

I've not bought any Costco pants so can't comment on the "skinny jeans" but know what you're finding. I couldn't wear those even if I were skinny. The local discount store that went out of business sold Lee jeans that I like. I bought several pair when they closed. I do like getting Wrangler painter pants at Walmart for working around the house. They're not a heavy denim but I like the leg pocket to hold my cell.

Years ago jeans came in maybe 2 styles, regular & boot cut.
Now you REALLY have to watch the labels for the cut.
I think the last time I shopped for jeans there were something like 2 dozen styles of just Levi's.
That's not counting all the other brands, each of them having multiple cuts & styles.

                    Check this out:
I noticed the VigiLink system on the board is highlighting certain key words and putting in links.
I clicked on the word 'jeans' and it took me to a page selling these.

I was complaining to my wife about ball sweat she ordered me some underwear called "armachillo" from Duluth traders when they got here they were shiny looking. I handed the package right back to her. Said there's no way I'm wearing shiny undies I don't give a shit what they do! I can see myself wrecking my bike and the paramedics cutting my jeans and saying lookey here we got us a fella wearing women's undies. Next thing you know you're on some YouTube video
