  • started to get into woodworking again.

it has been over a decade since the last time i did any woodworking outside of rough carpentry type work. but my wife wanted some curio cabinets built and like always i could not find someone to either A show up and price the job or B show up after we both agreed on price. so as the old saying goes, if you want it done right (or at least how you want it) do it yourself. i made them from 1x4 maple wood a hint of maple plywood and 1/4" thick glass mirror. im happy with my results but man i can tell im a little rusty, lol. my livingroom wall is still a work in progress and i still need to make the mantle and columns i want at the ends so please note im far from done with this wall lol. Very cool! From an angle, they look like coffins that you can see yourself in for eternity.

my wife said the same thing when she took a picture to send to her friend, lol. i certainly hope that is not the first thing that comes to mind with everyone though, lol.

I kind of thought the same thing seeing them laying on their backs but in the wall they make the room look bigger, open & airy.
Very nice - except now I want to do the same thing and I know I'll screw it up & mine will look like ass. LOL

Looks really fantastic! Congratulations on such amazing work. I want something similar in our family French Riviera property https://tranio.com/france/cote_d_azur/ as we are doing some work on half of the house now. And such mirrors will look fantastic in the living room for sure.

i appreciate the comments guys. i was really supprised how well they turned out. i was thinking about profiling the face of the cabinets as well as the outside edge but was worried it might get "to busy" especially seeing i will be building doors for them later on.

ID:	82511 the wood work bug has bitten me pretty hard, its a slow process between work, family and other chores but im building cabinets for my garage now too. im using these to pratice for making our kitchen cabinets in maybe a year or so. the faces, doors and drawer fronts are made of brazilian cherry. the bodies are made from 3/4" birch plywood. i am hoping to be done with the cabinets in a few weeks but we shall see how it goes, lol. this is my new reloading bench that im building. i reload a lot of ammunition so i have a lot to equiptment and supplies and need the space for it. what i had before looked like stuff was just thrown into the corner.Click image for larger version Name:	20190804_174204.jpg Views:	0 Size:	148.5 KB ID:	82509Click image for larger version Name:	20190804_205318.jpg Views:	0 Size:	148.1 KB ID:	82510

First thing I thought of was coffins but I'm a morbid type so that's to be expected. Some skulls dripping in candle wax would really dress them up.

Yep that is sure an improvement from the garage I saw. Nicely done. The living room is also looking really good. I was wondering how that was going to come out when I saw it. Nice miter joints, good and tight looking. Too bad you are so far away because I have a really nice table saw with cast iron extensions with your name written all over it. Got a nice professional router box also. Neither of them used more than twice as my woodworking ran out of steam right after I got them. Now I just have time for bikes and metal work.
                          Go ahead, I dare ya.

thank you everyone. i do enjoy the work and i did not realize how much i missed working with wood. i wish i had more room to get a few pieces of dedicated equiptment such as a jointer, band saw and a big planer or drum sander at least 24" wide.
