RIP Doc_V Lance Hansford

I'm very sad to share that today I learned of Lance's passing last year on January 10, 2022 at the age of 53. I was doing some site admin stuff and tried to contact him. My email bounced. While searching for an alternate email address I found his obituary. I'm ashamed that I didn't know about this much sooner.

Lance was a great guy. Long time RSC member since 2011. Very matter of fact, but also funny. Super smart. Some of us met him at the PNW Starfest in Spray OR. That's where he had the debacle with his tire and the damage from the tow truck. Poor tow truck driver didn't know that Lance was an Independent Associate for LegalShield.

I got to hang out and ride with Lance when I was in the Bay Area a few years ago. He lived in Alameda. We met for lunch, and then rode some amazing forest roads with great lookouts. Later we had dinner at a seafood place on the coast. We talked motorcycles and IT stuff for a while. Next morning we met for coffee and rode some more before I headed East. That was the last time we spoke.

Godspeed brother. You will be missed.

That is sad news. I always enjoyed reading about his endeavors. 53 is way to early to leave this world.

Very sad indeed. I have missed his postings here. Had fun with him here. Especially the time he dropped something down the top end of his R. Nobody let him live that one down.

That is very sad to hear! He was a great guy and great contributor to this site. I remember he had bought a Kawasaki at one point so I just assumed he wasn't on the site because of other interests. We only met once in Spray Oregon.

I am so very sorry to hear this. I have really missed him on this forum as he has brought us a lot of information and inspirations on our bikes.
I am truly grateful for getting to meet him in Spray, Oregon, and I felt sorry for him when his tire went flat and the tow truck messed his bike up. I wondered what happened with him because I didn’t think he would leave this forum without saying something to us. I do miss him and very much hope that we will get together again on the the other side. I miss you brother.

This really sucks……I met only once….I was able to make the Starfest in Spray, he decided to ride home down the coast on hwy 101. We met up and had a morning ride then grabbed lunch together. We talked about all things Roadstar and other things. We shared stories, laughed complained about tow truck drivers…lol….he will be surely missed.

Sad news for sure also a bit shocking. i met him at Spray MnG also and remember his story he told of his mom and picking up found pennies. Also I helped hammer out the bent rear axle on that red RS. He did tinker a lot with different things, such as mufflers etc. I won't forget him.

I never met Lance in person, but he left a lasting impression with some very kind words via PMs. Just goes to show you never know when your kindness is meaningful to others. Rest in peace, my friend; you will be missed.

Sad indeed. Like so many others, I appreciated his contributions here, but he was kind and generous to me through some PM interaction. When he didn't respond back a few months ago I didn't take it personally, but now it all makes sense.

What a bummer, I always looked forward to his posts - always on some adventure (mechanical or otherwise) with his RS. As Duke said, i always thought we'd hear something from him when he left the forum. As Shores said, just assumed the Kawi forum was his new hangout. 53 is much too young - RIP Lance, you will be missed.
