Those racing coils still have the same primary and secondary coil resistance specs to run the bike.

I laugh everytime I see a set of those

But, the guy that sold them to me told me they are a key part reaching my 100 hp goal.....

There is a guy on the FB/RSC that says he has 100 hp at the tire on his Roadstar and beats a Busa stoplight to stoplight....I bet he has these coils....

probably the same guy that says synthetic oil is too slick for the amount of power his bike lays down.

Apparently I’m missing a good comedy routine by missing out on the fb rsc page

Its not worth your time. It's more frustrating than funny. I walked away from FB two months ago and don't miss it at all.

This was FB R* baggers, same difference, a few guys know the score and the others think they do.

Yep, like people yesterday giving advice to check the stator when there's no power after a new battery install, even with a jump start. They do have a nice long oil discussion every now and then, though!

so please explain why those are snake oil? They put down more voltage and with thicker plug wires they should deliver more spark to the plugs.

Why on the bike are they snake oil, but putting a 40,000 volt MSD ignition and 10mm plug wires on your V-8 is a proven gainer?

It only takes a specified amount of voltage to jump the gap on the sparkplugs. You aren't changing the gap on your plug or changing anything else to cause more resistance to ground so more spark is not needed. Excessive spark availability means nothing on our stock bikes . (This is a simplified explanation)If it takes 15000 volts to jump the .035 plug gap with the old OEM coils it still takes 15000 volts to jump the .035 plug gap with the new Dyna coils. There is a little more going on than being that simple but I hope that explains the important part on our stock non race bikes. A properly operating OEM coil will perform on our bikes as well as any other so called performance coil.

Now if you had a heavily modified engine running at a high rpm and had coil breakup at a high rpm a performance coil may help but not because of the higher voltage but because of larger windings that would deliver a more consistent voltage for the demand of the high rpm and other engine mods. To see if there would be an advantage would take a heavily modded bike, a dyno and a scope to watch the coil peaks and drops at the specific rpm ranges. But on our stock bikes or even Big Bore bikes IMO not needed.
