I have absolutely no use for 'social media'...it is more like an excuse to say things about people that you wouldn't say to their face because if you did, you'd be seeing a dentist or cosmetic surgeon to repair the ruin of your face. Since 'social media' has 'become the rage', there have been more suicides by teens and other people with low self esteem ( for whatever reason). Social media has spawned a generation of 'people' who would rather 'get a selfie' than help someone in distress...there have been many examples in the media (if you can believe them) and quite a few people have died through inattention, while taking selfies.

I'm watching the whistleblower testify in front of the US Senate right now.

I was a 'Facebook junkie' until around 6-7 years back. But we used it for our business, film projects, forming special teams for projects, and the like. It was a great tool for a while. Also used it to stay on top of the issues with the attacks on the ranchers such as the Hammonds and Bundy's back then. Now a ton of people use it to buy and sell online.

But back then it became clear to me that Facebook had taken control of my pages and content, unlike it had been years before that. Content I wanted to keep up with disappeared from my feed, as well as posts by friends and family. Other posts were censored or ghosted. It was clear that I was being manipulated.

I soon had my fill and just closed it down altogether. Haven't missed it a bit. Would never join again simply because I don't want to support anything they're about. Seeing them censor conservatives the way they have is treasonous in my opinion. A literal enemy of the state...

This site is about as close to social media as it comes for me right now. Just too busy for the most part, plus most of it is such dribble that it's not worth a moment of my time.

Sounds like both sides of the aisle in Congress are ready to act at this point after hearing the evidence of the harm being done to our children. But he last thing we need is having Congress getting their fingers in much of anything. Just remove the Section 230 protections and let us all sue them into oblivion.

I too never signed up for Facebook, twitter, Instagram, ect. Forums are close enough for me. A forum at least has a general purpose of people looking for information and sharing projects and a common topic.

I use FB for the RSC and a couple other Roadstar forums to sell my Battery cables but mostly use FB Marketplace and Messenger all the time. It's not the general BS on FB. I Buy and sell things on Marketplace it gets around using craigslist for selling local and gets around the new account shit that Ebay changed to. Ebay won't let you use paypal anymore to take payment you have to give them banking info to sell and they deposit into your checking. I guess I could open a checking account just for them and then pay service charges to the bank for having a low balance in there but I refuse to do that..

Yeah Facebook is best for marketplace but even that's totally f***** up you can't even do searches properly and they have software that defeats normal search criteria. Ever since Craigslist started charging $5 for each vehicle post for sale a lot has moved over to free marketplace.

I belong to 2 private groups on FB the RSC and a Xterra page. Other than that I use the Marketplace. Like the rest have already said way too much BS!!
