I lived in the middle of Texas for many years. It's always humid there. I will take 110 in the desert over 95 in Texas any day.

Heat with humidity and high dew points will make the toughest people wince a little. I was in Vegas once and it was about 110 degrees but only 10% humidity. 10%?? It didn't even feel hot to me. My crack "is it a dry heat?" was meant as a joke but there is some truth behind it!

I spent approx a month in Tucson, two weeks when it was as hot as FPs pic and two weeks in the 80's. The 80's in Tucson is awesome i must say, the 80's in Ohio not so much.

I'm assuming this is intended to improve lighting/contrast so that the temp reading is easier to see. I get it. I must have stared at that original photo for a full minute thinking "what am I supposed to be seeing? what is the temperature?". It is like one of those optical illusions in that now that I've seen it, I see it immediately. But the way that thermometer indicator aligns *perfectly* with the roof line of the cabin and the tip is hidden in the porch shadow made it so tough for me to see the first time.

When I lived in Tucson, where my brothers and sisters were born, we used to run around outside and were tanned to the point we were as dark as the latinos, except our hair was bleached white....made quite the impression when my parents took us down to Nogales for their monthly liquor resupply. When we moved to Kansas, the first few times we played outside and were sweating, we thought we were sick, because water was coming out of us! (Quite a difference in humidity between Arizona and Kansas!) Now, I have to be careful how much sun I get , because , instead of tanning, my skin breaks out in a rash (which means no riding in shirt sleeves).

I rode 6 hours in 100-101 degree on my trip to Star Fest... That was enough for me.

You can have it. Used to truck across the desert back in the ‘70’s eating ice to survive.
