  • Just checking in!

    Hello all!

How is life inside the RSC? Life outside has turned crazy, forcing all to stay inside (unless you ride a motorcycle) I'm sure that's in the rules somewhere.

It's been a year since I've been home from the hospital, after 5 months and a heart transplant. Certainly there is a before I got sick and after, reminder in everything I do.
I feel fantastic! The heart is working perfect, the meds are doing what they're suppose to do. From one who was on the brink of death, it's amazing to be alive. So grateful!

In this past year I've taken the bike out, not too far from home and only about 30 minutes or so just to get it out and up to operating temperature instead of sitting in the garage. I also have a Yamaha Bolt so I do the same thing back to back. Getting my strength back is the biggest challenge. This past weekend I rode with a friend for the first time for a couple hours. So I'm getting there!

Just wanted to drop in and say hey! Many of you had shared kind words of concern and encouragement for me. I hope you all are still around and doing well despite what things look life in this politically charged plandemic. America has always fought back our enemies. Freedom and our liberties have always been who we are. We will win again!

    Hey...!
Good to know that you're "Still alive & well".
    for real !
I got hit real hard by pneumonia in Nov., '014. Doctors all ( I had several) said I shouldn't ride a motor scooter any more. So I stopped riding for a while. Even sold my '04 R/S Silverado. Kept the '00 R/S HotRod.
I hated not riding. It is, indeed, the best therapy (for me, anyway) ever. There's no pill you can take, nothing you can smoke, snort, or rub into your belly-button that does me as much good as a scooter ride.
Two years ago I found a low-mileage unmolested '06 Stratoliner S & bought it. I'm back to riding a lot and I'm doing so much better. Last year I found a very low-milage, unmolested '02 R/S Warrior & bought it. I told my wife it was for her.She lets me ride it from time to time (especially when it needs gas in the tank).
We're going to trailer the scooters from Athens, Georgia to the NW Starfest in Oregon the last week of July. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Cascade Mtns. again.
So,mi Amigo, take your time, get your strength back, and "Ride that thang !".
I love the smell of smoked pork in the morning !

Believe me, even before I got sick I thought about making the ride. Glad you’re still around, Steve.

That's quite a ride you've been on (before the bikes). Glad to see you're doing well and getting back in the saddle. Take it slow and build up your stamina.

Gives a whole new appreciation to life.

twowheeltherapy, while not as evasive as what you went through, I had a stent put in back in '09. At 43 that was a wake up that you have no control over how long you're here. So enjoy each day and all your loved ones as our time here is short.

You are missed here. No reason you can't come around more often.

Thank you, Lance. I was hoping you were still here so you could know my progress. You and your mom’s concern and prayers meant so much to me. I still will say thank you.

Thank you. I know you followed along from the beginning. I’m glad you too are still around. Thank you again for your well wishes and prayers.

I must say, all you guys are so nice. I’ve neglected coming on here but as I did I thought of each of you, knowing you were pulling for me from the beginning and wondering if you were still here. You deserved an update. I will again say thank you to each of you.

Much has been gained from this experience. Certainly gratefulness is at the top of my new found life.
Eight months after discharge I was at my monthly clinic check near the hospital and went back up to visit whatever nurses and care partners were working that shift. Man, were they ever glad to see me. Some cried. They said they don’t hardly ever get to see the “end results” from someone who faced such challenges. I told them I wanted to come to personally say thank you again and let you SEE WITH YOUR OWN EYES what your hard work accomplished!!

That's awesome you went back to check in with them. Those people don't get near enough recognition or gratitude..

Agreed! I saw first hand what they have to put up with. And how they extend their own human care and compassion to their job. We are at our WORST. Both physically and emotionally. They get all the dirty worrk, all the demands. Yet they comfort fears and take on rudeness without batting an eye.

Pleased to meet you Twowheel... Glad to hear of your recovery. So many of us take life for granted. With that new lease on life, you have gotten back on the saddle. May you always enjoy the things and people you love most. Secondly, you have thanked those who helped you. May that also be your habit, every day with everyone who shines a smile on you. And not to forget the God who loves you most. His son gives us eternal life. I am reminded to be thankful for every new day I get to rise from bed. Thanks for bringing that reminder to me.
