Thats too high for an 06 R* pushing almost 50k miles, batwing or not.

You can get a considerably newer R* with much less miles on it for approx same price or not that much more money.

For example,in March 2018 i bought a 6 yr newer/2012 Silverado R* (hard bags) with only 1,250 miles on it from the original owner in mint cond for only $900 more ($5,800) on it's $7k+ book value at the time vs $4,900 for a 6 yr older bike with almost 47k more miles on it.

Another example, when i bought my 1st 2006 Silverado R* (leather bags) in 11/2009 in mint cond from original owner with 4,700 miles on it it booked for $7,600 +and i got it for $6k.,

When i was selling my 1st R* approx 6 yrs later in 2015 with only 25k miles on it in mint cond with new tires, new fr/rear brake pads, new battery, new plugs & fresh oil changes in motor and x-fer case i started out advertising it a bit below book at $4,900,then later at 4,500 and then 4,295 i still got almost no action on craigs list, cycles online and on this site too for 3-4 months advertising it in season too.

I finally got action from craigs list when i reduced price to $4,195 which got me an offer of $4k which i accepted when book value was in mid-upper $5k range at the time because i needed the money and didnt have room to store it anymore too.

At times i have seen R*'s for sale on Craigs list/cycles online and ebay for better prices with much lower mileage on them too so if your serious about getting a newer R* thats where you will find one if you monitor those places.

BTW,my prior 06 R* was a great reliable bike for sure but when i moved up the the newer 2012 R* with EFI and upgraded speedo/instrument cluster the efi really did improve driveability and that alone (IMHO) is reason enough to move up to an 08 or newer r* with EFI.

EFI eliminated 99% of off idle stumble/caugh/backfire thru carb when coming off idle & or when quickly blipping throttle ,no more dealing with choke when motors cold and warm up ,little better mpg ,better throttle response along with more consistent/stable idle speed no matter what if it's 60 deg f or 90+ deg f outside vs carb'd R* that by design will idle at slightly diff rpm and smoothness when there is a fairly lrg temp & humidity swing that efi can better adjust idle speed & mixture for that a carb by design simple cant do without intervention/adjustment of some sort.

I bought both of my R*'s online, the 06 i got from ebay and the 2012 from Craigs list with no problem with either bike or seller.

      Happy motoring.

      Scott.

Thanks Scott. I've been wanting to get back into riding for a couple of years now and had been to the bike dealer factory trailer ride events. I rode all kinds of marks and was surprised when i really liked the Indians and Harleys as i used to ride sport bikes (back before they had clip on handle bars). When i recovered from the sticker shock i realized that a fairly late model Indian or Harley was not in my future. I was perusing craigslist when i saw the RS i have now. I showed the picture to my wife and she said "that's a pretty bike", what i heard was "you can buy that"! A couple days later i was the owner of a RS and that is how i came to be on the forum. Its great to have a resource like this, i appreciate everyone's help. To me the RS is great bang for the buck compared to other big V Twins.

That bike is 2yrs newer with 50% less miles & EFI too for less money,it's a good price to that bike.

                A 2008 with 22,700 miles & EFI for $4,790 vs $4,900 for a 2006 carb'd R* with approx 2x more miles (pushing is it 50k miles?) for more money/$4,900,it's a no brainer for which bike i'd be interested in!/LOL!!!

THIS 2ND BIKE YOU LISTED IS EVEN A BETTER DEAL BEING 4 YRS NEWER ALONG WITH ALSO BEING A SILVERADO WITH EFI AND LOWER MILES THEN THE 2006 THE OP WAS CONSIDERING BUYING TOO.

YOU SURE GET A LOT OF BIKE FOR THE MONEY WHEN TALKING USED R*'S,ESPECIALLY 2008 & UP THAT HAVE EFI ETC.

Yup,thats the one i'd be looking if i were in the market for a R*.

Asking $4,500 but cash in hand could easily get it down to $4,200-4,300,if lucky could maybe get it for $4k-4,100 cash
which would be a great deal on what looks to be a R* in good cond with somewhat low miles for being 8.5 yrs old too.
