  • Looking at another Roadstar

I currently have a 2001 Roadstar 1600 that has been a great bike. Today I came across a 2006 Roadstar 1700 that I am seriously considering picking up. This bike has 48000 miles on it. Should I be concerned about the mileage? I have run my own bikes up well past that but they have been mine. Bike looks to be well taken care of and I will ask for records if available. My 1600 has been bulletproof and I suspect the 1700 probably is as well but wanted to ask anyway.

    Thanks,

    Tom

I have an '06, got it w/ 51K on the clock, now has 59K and runs like new. I paid $2500 for it 6 years ago.

Thank you for the replies. These seem to be very reliable bikes

Price is probably more important than mileage. How much?

Asking $4900. Bike has freedom exhaust, Silverado hard bags, reckless batwing fairing and has been painted. I am going to go look at it tomorrow and have not talked price yet. Any suggestions?

Seems high price. Lots in my area for about $3500. Here is a member’s bike also posted in the classified. Nice one.

                  4900?
no way he'll get close to that. $3k-300 if it's perfect. Miles don't really mean much to a knowledgeable Roadstar buyer...but MOST bike buyers are leery of that many miles. I personally wouldn't pay more than $3-3250.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to see if I can get in touch with the member who has the bike for sale. Bellingham is only a couple hours from me.

Jerry, you owe me a finders fee if he buys it!

I do my fair share of shopping for Road Stars and Roadliners and if I were you I'd do some more shopping before jumping on a relatively high priced high mileage bike. I just bought an 06 Roadliner in excellent condition w/ 50,000 miles for $3.400. There are plenty of Road Stars out there with LOW mileage at very good prices, so shop around and take your time to find the right bike for you.

                          That one's not a Roadstar.
Not a bad bike if you don't mind a radiator on a motorcycle.

You're right of course, I was just pointing out some other possibilities.

Thanks for all the information. I agree there are many out there for better prices. Really the only reason I am looking to trade from my 01 is want to have more of a bagger for longer rides. I know what it will cost me to add fairing and hard bags and dual exhaust so this really comes down to finding one that is set up like I want and comparable or less after the sale of my bike to set up on my own. I may not even sell the 01. Unfortunately she is not worth much to anyone but me anymore.

Jerry has someone coming to look at his tonight and if that doesn’t work out I will seriously consider that bike.

Check with NW Harley Davidson in Lacey, WA. Karl trailed in his beautiful Roadstar there. It was still there last weekend. Beautiful bagger with apes, Freedom true duals, hard bags, Ultimate seat, fairing, trunk, custom two tone orange/gray paint, Roadwing and much more. It’s not on their website, so will have to call them. Tell them you wanna pay what they gave him on trade in. You’ll be happy!

The 2006 you posted about don't sound to far above a good price. Figure if you can get it for 4200 to 4400 and it is clean and what you want. What would you spend putting freedom duals, Yamaha hardbags and a reckless fairing on a 2800 dollar bike. I know you hardly ever get what you put into making a bike like you are looking for. But sometimes getting what you want is worth a little something more. Good luck in you search.

Just got a call back from NW Harley. Bike is no longer available. Salesman asked if I was interested in stepping up to a Harley. I politely said, no thank you.

I think that salesman doesn't know much about Road Stars.
