    Big decision today i can buy a 2006 RS silversdo with 40,000 mi thats completely stock but i keep reading about sticking valves on the resr cylinder is this a big concern should i just go for it, how common is the issue is maybe from running too hot anyone know how common this problem is, its its only thing holding me back right now

    It should not be a problem holding you back at all. I have an 04 and had a small case of it but not an issue to not buy it. Great read in the tech section on svs cure. Just buy it!

      I have a 05 midnight star with 36k on the clock and have never had a problem with SVS. I believe SVS was a problem in 2004,

        Buy it. You'll Love it!
        I have an '06 that I've put nearly 90,000 miles on.
        Never had Any problems at all that *I* didn't cause .

          The 06's did not have the SVS issue. My '06 has 59K on it and runs like new. Go for it!

            05 with 40k miles all stock is fine...just don't pay too much...right now I would say $3k would be reasonable but not much higher at all given the used metric market

              Im riding it home wed weather permitting with the 650 trade in i got it for 2,000, im wondering if the oem passing lamps on the 650 are going to fit they sure look like they will

                Its still listed at powerhouse motorsports website in plainville ct its the only roadstsr there if anyone wants to see it

                      I have a vstar 650 (with sidecar) and it's fun but not near the bike a Roadstar is. You will like the extra size, comfort, and power.

                                Looks bone stock, clean, tall sissybar, passenger floorboards, cast wheels.....fantastic starting point! Unmolested down to stock pipes and airfilter....rare!

                                  the reason i wanted this one is because like you said its unmolested, I've been looking for a while now and your right most used ones have aftermarket exhaust at the very least, do stock carbs come with a brass cap over the pilot screw? so you can tell if its been readjusted from factory settings

                                  I know of a few things i"ll be doing right off. eng guard w/highway pegs, passing lamps, and some kind of storage at the back a removable tour pack maybe? ohh and a studded tank bib for sure

                                  Yes...Stock carb has brass welch plug over pms screw. You need the Adams Rack to mount a tour pack on the back (member here sells them) and a set of Dave J upgraded starter 4 gauge wire kit, and a Roadwing from Smokescreen here on the forum....to start...

                                  THEN might as well:
                                  Remove AIS, synthetic fluid everywhere, EBC HH brake pads, check pulley nut for tightness, new spark plugs, treat the gas with seafoam, louder (electric air) horn, LED headlight, more comfy grips, lube all your cables, big loud nasty pipes, jet the carb, open air filter, relocate crankcase breather, lube the seat mechanism, new oil/fuel/air filters, check/regrease/tighten steering head bearings, Barnett clutch upgrade, check/replace wheel bearings, change fork oil (and might as well do better springs/emulators), check belt twnsion and alighnment, check rear wheel alignment, ckean out your starter from the black gunk and polish the commutator.......that should get you busy for the first weekend of winter in preparation for spring LOL

                                    Don't forget to tighten the 3 screws inside the gas cap.
                                    If those ever come loose it'll be a bitch to get the cap off.

                                    It's been a while but I only remember *2* screws in the gas cap.
