          I decided to upgrade my battery cables today as everyone on the RoadStar Riders Forum says it really helps start these beasts when you have high compression pistons.
          As I start this project I forgot to disconnect the damn battery! ( I'm 68 so cut me some slack..lol) The lead from the starter relay to the starter touched the other terminal on the relay and all of a sudden the motor is turning over and a small fire started on the battery cable at the starter relay terminal. I put the fire out and got the battery disconnect as fast as I could.
          Then I took the electrical box out and the starter relay, checked all the wiring and connections for fire damage and everything looks ok. So I proceed to change the cables out and put new copper ends on them.
          I get everything all back together and double check every thing and make sure everything is nice and tight, I turn the key on to start it and NOTHING...no lights no anything!

          What now? I hate electrical work, I just had this motor out of the bike to do a new oil pump, put new pistons/rings in J&E 10.25:1, (110c.i.) new stock cams and lifters, adjustable Smith Bros. push rods.

                It sounds like you blew the main fuse. It is 1 of the 30 amp fuses located at the relay. 1 of the 30 amp fuses is the main fuse and the other is a spare that you can use.
                You are gonna love the Big Bore. I also have a Patrick Racing 110 Big Bore w/cam,pushrods and collapsible tubes,HSR45 carb and dyna 3000. Right at the moment I have the heads off and sent them to Pro 1 Racing heads to have stage 2 porting with +2mm valves installed. Without the heads ported I had great dyno results @ 87hp and 109tq. I'm hoping for over 100hp and close to 116-120 tq when the heads are done. If you need any advice on tuning or dyna settings just send me a message and I will try to help.

                  close to $1300 with parts. Labor is $900 of the $1300.

                  from Burlington, IA. There is also a pretty good chance you fried the starter relay.
                  What gauge cables are you replacing the old ones with? A lot of us here have gone to #4AWG
