I finally got the seat removed. I had to use a thin screwdriver to push the mechanism. I will clean and lube it and see if that fixes it.

I have not been able to get it off yet. I can the hanger to work on the '07' but not the '03'. I will try the screwdriver from the right side tomorrow.

Yeah, hook it from the left side or a long narrow screwdriver from the right side. Having the other bike there to look at should help immensely. Practice the '07 bike with the seat off then go to the '03 bike and make it happen.

Representing Scorpion Gulch, Arizona. Same mechanism on both bikes. You may have to use the coat hanger trick. Go in under the left side of the seat a few inches down from the front with a length of coat hanger wire with a hook bent in the end going under the seat. If you can hook the cable housing and give it a hard pull that should release it. Then you can lube it all up after you get under there and / or rig up a permanent pull wire to actuate the seat release. Good luck, and above all, be patient. Don't let it irk you. If you can't get it in a minute or two just walk away for awhile. Getting pissed off will not help matters.

Third such thread in 3 days. if you can't get it just like turning the key to the left and putting a little bit of weight on the front of the seat then bend a coat hanger and reach underneath the seat and pull the latch. Then lube the latch and add a more permanent wire like a fishing leader, etc.

    New to the clinic

Hello all, I have been reading the forum for a few years but registered today. I have a 2007 Midnight Star and a new to me 2003 Silverado. I cannot get the seat off of the 2003. None of the tricks I use on the 2007 work on the 2003. Are there some suggestions on how to remove a seat that will not come off?
