    Hi Guys,i'm back ! (Good or Bad!/LOL!)

    Long story short is i joined in 2009 and then backed of activity here in RSC late 2014 or early 2015 and recently tried to log back into RSC to find the site was upgraded and my user id etc had been left back in older version of RSC having to re-register like a brand new member in this upgraded version..

    One reason i am back here in RSC is i recently got a sweet deal on a 1 owner 2012 R* with EFI with only 1,250 original miles in great cond.

    Bike seems to run well but with such low miles has obviously done a lot of sitting in the prior owners garage so to be safe even though he said he changed motor 3x over past 6yrs he owned the bike i still plan to change motor oil & filter,transfer case oil along with also draining fuel tank and refilling with fresh fuel along with a healthy dose of seafoam & or Techron to clean any possible crap old fuerl left behind that had 10% ethenol in it in the fuel tank,injectors,fuel pump & or fuel filter where ever it's hiding too!/LOL!!!

    Tires are 6+ yrs old & original with like new tread,i dont see any dry rot or cracks in the tires either so we will see how they ride/handle when it get some miles on the bike when spring breaks here in upstate ny.

    As for the battery,it's 6+ yrs old & original to the bike which is a GS/Yuasa battery venture GT14B-4/190cca's so battery being 6+yrs old could crap out just about any time. (Yuasa lists their repl battery for a 2012 R* as being a fill & activate yourself YT14B-BS/210cca maint free AGM battery)

    I don't know why Yami went from stock oriignal 270cca battery in older carb'd bikes to a considerably less powerful 190cca battery in newer efi R*'s like mine,could it be the lower output battery weighing 1-1.5 lbs less is the reason Yami went with a smaller lower CCA output battery?

    There is plenty of room to accept the larger/.mostly wider higher output 270cca battery older bikes use in my newer efi R* ,best most powerful agm battery i'd trust i can get for the newer efi R* is 210cca
    vs for older carb'd R*'s is a lot more @ 310cca's.

    Just doesnt make sense to go so low on battery cca power with such a lrg 1700cc v-twin even though it's no that high on compression 1700ccs's is quite a lot of motor to spin over with almost 100+ less cca's esp when there's enough room under the seat on my 2012 to house the wider 310cca's the older R*'s use if someone was to remove the current battery narrow box to modify/widen the narrow stock battery box to accept the larger 3"+ wide battery or to simply fab/build a new battery box or try re-fit or modify an older carb'd R* battery box thats larger to fit in my newer 2012 R* that looks to have enough wide open space to accept a larger battery box.

    Prior owner said when he bought the R* new in 2012 even though it had a new battery at the time it turned over pretty slow all the time (hot or cold) but never failed to start since he got it new.

    Guess i will just have wait see & how the motor starts with the low output battery and if it doesnt do well then fab in a diff battery box to accept the larger 310cca battery the older R*'s use.

    BTW,Deka l;ists their ETX14/220cca's as fitting my 2012 R*,but it shows as being a bit over 3" wide when stock original battery in my 2012 R* is a tad over 2.5" which fits tight in stock original battery box so there is no way Deka's etx14 being a tad over 3" would fit .

    So i dont know why Deka lists the ETX14 as being a proper fit repl battery for my 2012 R* when that 3"+ width battery can't fit in a battery box that's a hair over 2.5" wide,it just isnt going to happen!/LOL!

    Ok,back to the main topic here!

                The 190 battery is plenty for the FI bikes. They have a much stronger charging system than any of the carbed bikes and the FI engine tends to start during the 1st revolution.
