Greetings all. I'm from Clarksville Tenn. I've been riding and wrenching since I was 16 ....I recently purchased a 01 RoadStar 42000 miles, after 52 years of owning nothing but HD's ( Panheads, Shovelheads, and my last bike a 1993 Heritage Softail). after some health issues "crushed left hand/broken fingers, and a surgery gone bad on my left arm, I was unsure I would ever ride again so I sold my loved Softail Heritage. ( I'm 68 in july) . Decided to give a try with another bike and limited funds, I decided to buy this 01 RS. Frankly,I was surprized. Very positive feeling with the Road and handling, nice power, and over all smoothness. I do have a couple issues I will repair. ( sounds most like an "alternator whine" and also my more pressing repair being a Chirp" when letting off the throttle or shifting like a "clutch chirp". anyone else know of these noises?. here is a couple picks of the bike in its present look. The previous owner lowered and added Pullbacks, with Vance N Hines Pipes. supposedly the carb had been rejetted, but frankly, I think its running too Fat" by the blue colour of the pipes.

Chirp is the belt, needs adjustment.

Thanx Guys. Yea it was the belt. cleaned the belt and the pulley's and adjusted properly. The chirp" is gone.

Representing Scorpion Gulch, Arizona. Nice bike. I, too, rode H-D for many years. I tried to love them, WANTED to love them, but they never loved me back. Got my '06 Roadstar 7 years ago and it's been wonderful! Wish I would have switched a long time ago. I could have saved tens of thousands of dollars and had much more riding time.
