I am about to exchange my 1992 hd evo for a yamma roadstar 1700 -2006 with 14000 mls. Now I was wondering if the " warrior " and the roadstar 1700 have the same engine , with the same horsepower and torque or if the roadstar is a " baby warrior ? :-)

from Texarkana, in the Arklatex. The Warrior has sort of the same engine with a lot of differnces and it has a lot of other differences also. Pretty bike.

They are both 1700cc engines with some parts that are interchangeable but the warrior is always feel injected and the road star only became fuel injected at 2008. I believe the transmission is different, exhaust is different and motor mounts maybe different. Others will know more details.

The extra power comes from the heads and the FI system. The rest of the motor is the same casting.

Warrior has a different head design and fuel injection. Our R*'s are cruisers with a lot of Tq. and 99-07 are carb, 08-up are FI.

Aaron and I just put a Warrior lower end on his bike, putting together a 110ci motor, and it installed easily.
The motor mounts are the same, but the plate behind the front pulley is a little different. Warriors have 3 bolts that are the next size larger, " I'm thinking we had to go from a M6 bolt to a M8 bolt", so we drilled the plate mounting holes to except the M8 bolts. No big deal.
The Warrior heads are different then the Road Stars, but everything down can be interchanged.
I'm not 100% sure if the transmission gear ratio are exactly the same, but they are very close.
