We are currently in the Midwest. Central Minnesota specifically.

Thanks for the welcome and input. I had not considered the task of keeping my whites white, so that may have been crossed off the ? list.

Now you're going to have to set the middle of July aside to join us at NW Starfest!

I came from a racing and sport riding background so just couldn't do with the heel shifter. Cut mine off and left it all toe. Kept the floorboards though. Works great!

I too love the rumble beast. Never had a ride I didn't enjoy!

Whitewalls of course! I’ve had the best luck with Metzelers. My Dunlop’s sucked and Continentals were just OK. Avon too expensive, Shinko don’t last long.

Looking at the pics of the bike, it looks like you have OEM bags, but if it's got locking hardware, ditto what Shores said. Definitely not stock hardware.

From Central Oregon…….these bikes will bring grins to your face…..they are actually quite nimble for what they are. I am constantly scraping floor boards and enjoying it…..I’m not sure about your bags as I have the factory hard bags which are bolted on. I believe you can adjust the shifter a bit…..I have switched my headlights and passing lamps out to leds and it’s well worth it. Got mine off Amazon as a pair. And your whitewall question, well depends on what look you want. Personally I’m not a big fan of the whitewalls plus going with white walls limit your choices in tires as only certain ones make them.

Welcome to the Clinic and to the Road Star!!

Regarding the heel-toe shifter, it's on a splined shaft so it is adjustable, but it's all one piece so raising the front/toe will lower the rear/heel.

Regarding whitewalls, it's an individual taste. My '05 Silverado came with whitewalls and it looked great. I stayed with the for the first couple of tire changes then got away from them. Just depends on what you want. And keeping the rear whitewall clean can be a pain.

For the shift linkage, just adjust the connecting rod by loosening the lock nut's. Basic design that is on most motorcycles. Locking bag brackets are not stock. Read the entire link below and report back in 3 days for the 250 question eexam

New member, whole new world of riding.....

Been riding for most of my adult life, but have never had a proper "big-boy" bike. Been mostly on vintage (and now prohibitively expensive) Japanese and British bikes, and 2 years ago bought back my old man"s Triumph to come full circle. I found myself pondering a second bike for 2-up and commuting, and have always wondered what the attraction was to the land yacht. A friend decided that motorcycling was no longer in the cards, and a deal was proposed for me to take on a 2003 Roadstar Silverado on very reasonable terms.

I had occasion to put 200 miles on it over the past couple days, and I must say there is much to like about such a machine, and a few niggling concerns that I hope to address through the wisdom of fellow enthusiasts. I'm not ready to give up my hooligan ways, but there is definitely room in my world for such a relaxed, composed, and stylish ride. I do have questions though, for example; can I adjust the attitude of the heel-toe shift so I can actually get my toe under it? Did the bags come from the factory with the locking brackets, or am I looking at aftermarket quick-release bags.......that won't because the keys are absent? Let's talk LED replacement lights. See, got a curve here. To whitewall or not to??

I love a new bike experience. Especially when they are stylish, inexpensive, and well-engineered (yes, I have confirmed the trans recall). Off to explore my list of queries.............
