I've been riding 2-wheelers for almost 50 years now but I'm fairly new to the Road Star. I was just getting ready to sign up for the "old" Road Star Clinic and low and behold, it is shut(ing) down. I gained a ton of valuable information from the old website as a guest and wanted to continue learning about my Roadie so I joined 3 Road Star Facebook Groups. That's where I found the announcement for this "new" Road Star Clinic Forum.
A little history on my Bike:
I found my '07 Road Star (XV1700A) late last fall (2017). At the time it had about 12,000 miles on it and had sat for at least 3 years. It ran but only on 1/2 to 3/4 choke and sounded like crap, and was backfiring like crazy. It was in pretty good shape otherwise other than needing tires and a thorough cleaning. I trailered it home and within a week had a lower carb kit installed, jets cleaned, and all fluids & filters changed. Since that time I've put about 1,000 miles on it and have made the following changes. Added a Memphis Shades Fats Windshield, Highway Bars & Pegs, Luggage Rack, Driver's Back Rest, E. D. Seat, Beach Bars & new grips, Rush Exhaust, Saddlebags, Luggage Rack Bag, Tightened the Neck Bearing (It had a deceleration wobble at ~35-40 mph) and removed the AIS. All of the wrenching knowledge was gained from the old Road Star Clinic website. Thanks Guys!!
I'm looking forward to learning more about my Roadie, and maybe even offer some knowledge if I can.
Cheers!!!
