    Go it thank. I was having some starting issue and in another post they suggested upgrading to a 270 or 310 CCA battery. Guess thats not an option, although Im wondering if I could adapt that battery box.

      The napa brand agm is made by deka, 310cca and can be picked up local

        I think after 2008 the battery box is smaller and it cant accommodate the 270 and 310 cca batteries

        Okay I'll say it again adding acid to a battery by the end-user purchaser is passe. AGM batteries are superior. Batteries are like tires they have born on dates. Now they are totally sealed and they can mail them.

          I have had a few AGM batteries that were delivered empty and a acid pack was shipped with them. I filled them and did an initial slow charge before installing. You have to fill them and then wait for about an hour for the mat to saturate with acid before charging.

          Like davej said. I myself now wait at least 8hours before starting a slow charge. I read from one of the battery companies, that after adding acid to the cells, wait 3 to 4 hours for the mats to be fully saturated before charging.

        Understood, and agree. But I cant find an AGM 270 or 310 CCA that will my 2012.

          The fuelie bikes don’t need all that cranking power. What is a battery for but to start the bike? That’s it. Mine fires off on the first or second chuff every time be it 30° or 100°. If you are having problems with getting your bike to start then something is amiss.

          I left you a link for what you need. No big deal adding the acid. Once done you snap on the caps and it is sealed. There’s no vent tube to slobber all over the bike. My last Yuasa battery lasted seven years.

          looks like you may have to add acid to these.....................then they get sealed.
          looks like deka and everstart do not make a yt14b-bs, only sigmas tek

                  Suunds my battery just needed a full proper charge on a real charger, not just on the trickle charger. Its behaving better now with a full charge on the stock 210 battery.

                    With regular riding times a battery shouldn’t need any assistance from an external charger. Verify the charging status with a volt meter. Should see 14 volts at a very fast idle across the battery posts.

                        The stock YT14B-BS is a dry shipped AGM battery. The purchaser adds the acid and charges it. It is a sealed maintenance free battery. Just put one in my '12 a couple weeks ago. The specified 210 cranks it just fine.

                          Were there any special instructions for charging? I think I recall Doc_V a while back talking about using a trickle charger and giving it a 24/48 hour charge before use?

                        It was recommended to me to fill it and let it sit for 24 hours if possible. Then charge it on trickle charge with the acid bottle still attached just so it can breathe if it needs to and not bubble everywhere (in the event it does so). Then seal it up and be good to go.

                          I always left it overnight after filling but always sealed it before charging as per instructions, I'm not a bomb builder.

                          It was the Yamaha dealer tech that told me that they charged them with the cap off and then sealed it up afterwards. Don't know what they had found from previous experience.
