Looking at a used Roadstar....

I am looking at an 07 Roadstar, it has 40k on the clock. Both tires will need replacing very soon. The bike has a paint matched fairing with stereo, hard bags, mustang seat, and cobra slip ons... what would y'all look out for and what would be an acceptable offer if everything looks good? This is being sold by a dealer...

I think 07 was a good year, I think it was 05 had some valve issues, 99 to 03 had a few issues.

Well, on the one hand, later models, because sales fell off so, are relatively rare. Second, these are now orphans, as they've been out of production some years now. Third, few outside of our own community, have a true appreciation for what these are. Fourth, a search on alternate sites like FB Marketplace and Craigslist will probably turn others up... even later model ones, at far lower prices than any dealer is likely to ask. From outside of dealers, you'd probably see '07's being pitched at $3,600 tops, and they'd probably fetch $3k. What's the dealer asking?

My best bud bought a '14, with under 10k miles. It didn't come cheap... he paid $7,500, but he wanted the latest model, lowest mileage one he could find... and that was it. I'll say one thing... that '14 has so many upgrades and improvements over my '01's, '04 and his '02... I'm finding new stuff about that '14 every time I look it over. It's a pity they didn't sell well and stay in production!

• Still carbonated versus fuel-injected, $300 plus installation for new tires, horrible sounding slip on pipes, not so comfortable seat, not so horrible mileage. I wouldn't pay more than $3,000 for it.

Walk in with 2500 cash...offer 2k and if they don't like it tell them 2500 ..the walk away if they don't accept. I wouldn't go above 2500 for 49k mile bike that needs tires and a decent exhaust.

2007 is supposedly the best year model to have, but still, with that kind of mileage and needing things it would have to be pretty nice otherwise to go more than $2800. I would start at $2K and go from there.

I'm glad the dealer is currently prohibited from selling motorcycles in Pa due to the covid. If it were open I probably would have bought it, but after mulling it over I don't think it is a good move for me. A different bike from what I already have is more appealing now...

I was going to say make sure you go underneath the bike and make sure it doesn't have any frame cracks or frame gouges . I would like to pull off that cover and check the front drive pulley also. Before I bought. I looked at a bike 6 weeks ago , v Star 1100, it rode really nice but my right leg felt like it was higher than my left leg and I was thinking about buying it, but then I went underneath and looked at them under the frame and there is like these big freaking scratches I know that's where the floorboard mounted with Ben bent, which really surprised me cuz it rode down the road beautifully at 35 miles an hour. It really surprised me because the guy bought the motorcycle new who's the young guy it was his only transportation and I guess he just neglected to tell me he f****** ran into something. He acted all sorts of surprised when I noticed it oh, but this bike was a POS anyway you can tell I had not been maintained probably properly. He was asking well above retail on a clean bike so I told him look if you really want to sound less you need a freaking knock down your asking price a lot. Later I saw it posted for $300 less, should have been a thousand less but he's still trying to sell it needless to say bald freaking cupped tires too . Take the time to go over the bike thoroughly you may not notice stuff
