  • 2005 roadstar front tire seems to go up and down between 30 and 40 mph

2005 roadstar front tire seems to go up and down between 30 and 40 mph , bike never sits more than 30 days, its not my daily driver...michelin commander II's, not old or high mileage, rim not out of round or bent, no cupping apparent

I'm a little confused by what "up and down" means here. do you mean tire pressure, wobble, bouncing.....what is up and down?

If you are getting readings between 30-40 without adding air then you need a new gauge. If it is going down from 40 to 30 after a few weeks then you need to un-mount the tire, clean the bead area on the tire and rim and maybe even use bead sealer on it when you reinstall the tire.

Remove the lead weights and add either DynaBeads or RideOn per instructions.

Buy 3 bottles ride on via ebay for about $40..put 1.5 bottles in each tire. That will eliminate balance issue at least.

You are far more likely to be killed by a texting driver on your way to the store than you are to catch the Corona virus.

I've used both dyna beads and rideon. Between the 2 I like and use rideon. When I used the beads I still got feather edging on the front tire after using rideon they wear even. Keep in mind that that beads fall to the bottom of the tire every time you stop, the rideon stays in place and is balanced even at low speeds that the beads haven't balanced yet.

I've used Ride On in my last 4 sets of tires. It's the bee's knees! There is a chart of how much you should use just to balance and how much to use to balance and protect from punctures. I always use the later.

That black stuff is likely tire rubber powder. Don’t use those beads. Get new ones. I prefer RideOn because it stays put when I stop and provides some puncture protection. Follow the instructions, don’t just put 1.5 bottles per tire.

I was told by tech at ride on that if you use a couple ounces more per tire it won't hurt anything at all and better than not getting enough in the tire. For example if the chart calls for 10 ounces and a bottle is 8 ounces...you need another bottle for the 2 ounces. Also you never get all of the liquid put of the bottle and into your tire. On my custom 18 in wheels with 180R/150 I used as much of a full bottle in each tire and about a 1/3 of 3rd botthe in front and 2/3 in rear. Works perfectly. There is a chart on their website to let you know how much you use for your tire size.

Could this be a neck bearing issue? He said it was oscillating but that could be a loose neck/triple tree issue maybe.
                            Go ahead, I dare ya.

ok, so i put the dial indicator on all , looked good, put 8 oz of ride on in front tire, problem gone. TKS TO ALL YOU SUCKERS! i am frankly amazed.
oh and customer service told me this:
                                Dear Mr. McCarthy,

If you feel any imbalance after installing the Regular Dosage of Ride-On into your tires (after the initial 5-10 miles of highway riding to spread the sealant) you may simply remove the wheel weights and let Ride-On do your balancing. Ride-On is a balance for the life of the tire (unlike the wheel weights that are good for the initial few thousand miles after the tire change).

Ride-On will spread and adjust itself in your tires as your tires wear. It will keep your tires at the optimal balancing point and help the ride and wear of your tires.

However, if you continue to feel an imbalance after treating your tires with the Regular Dosage and removing your wheel weights, we recommend that you increase the dosage to the Severe Dosage.

Severe Dosage (Balance / Severe / Tube): You may add up to 25% more Ride-On tire sealant for balancing without wheel weights, or in severe applications. We recommend adding 25% more product for tube tire applications.

Please make sure that you do not under treat or over treat your tires.

Too little product (less than the Regular Dosage) will not allow the product to balance your tires properly, or provide the coverage area that we claim you should have for puncture protection.

Too much product (above the Severe Dosage) will increase the likelihood of an unwanted vibration.

You can calculate the correct dosage that your tire(s) will require by using our online dosage calculator: http://www.ride-on.com/calculator.html

Please make sure that you select the correct application/product from the drop down menu prior to plugging in your tire size and hitting the 'Calculate' button.

If you happen to have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly via return e-mail and/or by phone at 888-374-3366 ext. 4079.

Thank you for your interest in Ride-On products!
