    I saw this on fb and was wondering if anyone has experienced this "Andrew Pellerito I got stock clutch and I get clutch slippage when running full synthetic engine oil and I get absolutely no clutch slippage running Castrol 4 stroke motorcycle oil non synthetic "?

    Could be using wrong synthetic oil. Does he mention what brand? Probably doesn't.

        Likely used car motor oil. It has been mentioned a few times on here and the old clinic. Oil isnt just oil even if synthetic or not.

            He might have used a synthetic with friction modifiers. That's a no-no.

              I think just about every RSC member uses full synthetic of one brand or another, and no one else's clutch slips. Yea, there may be some omissions to this story.

                Synthetic has zero to do with clutch slippage. The issues is whether or not he's using a *motorcycle specific* oil designed for a wet clutch or an automotive oil, especially if it has friction fighters, as Tykes_Place mentioned.

                Well, I run Mobile1 20W50 v-twin full synthetic. My clutch was slipping in 4th gear. I have 33k on the bike. I replaced the clutch spring with the EBC spring and that felt like it did the trick for about 1k now I'm back to slipping when I really get on it? Opinions?

                  The EBC is a band aid fix...not a whole lot stronger than stock. You could also have worn the clutch discs and maybe glazed the steels. If you want to do it right and be done with it for likely the entire time you own your bike...do the following:
                  get the Barnett Spring Conversion kit, new OEM Yamaha clutch discs,and new OEM Yamaha steels. Not aftermarket clutch discs and steels. Stock ones. Adjust clutch cable properly. Period. End of story. Probably get 75k-100k out of that setup (if not longer).
