  • Softtail brackets with HD bags..question

For the guys using HD hardbags and soft tail brackets...did you use stock HD brackets on the cheap ebay aftermarket brackets?

I just got ebay brackets and extended bags off amazon. I'm curious with the softail brackets if people are making a bracket for the front bolt or drilling the frame?

I made new mounts for all 6 points and welded them where they needed to be.
The upper mounts put the bags too low for my exhaust.
I use those upper mount points to connect bungee cords.

Lug Nut , I used the ebay brackets, because I didn't know HD made saddlebag brackets for a Soft tail.
Just curious... where did tou see those?

I've got the aftermarket brackets. I just drilled a hole in my true dual supports for the front mount. Search the sites for photos and details on options if you don't have duals.

I was looking at getting saddlebag brackets from a stock HD vs $35 cheap ebay brackets. Got some pics where a guy with same exhaust as me (V&H longshots) and he used ebay brackets and did NOT drill any holes....he attached the brackets to fender stays and bent the front down to attach to the rear bot in frame where passenger pegs/floorboard mounting hole is. Since I have floorboards I will have to get a thick flat washer for each side and longer bolts to make the passenger floorboards attach flatly/evenly with the saddlebag mount there also.

I scored great deal on black 13 Street Glide saddlebags with Arlen Ness hinges and a black tourpack from an Electra Glide (complete with backrest, rubber bottom man hardware, antennae. Leather strap thingy, etc). Still debating on selling my current quick detach American Eagle hard leather covered bags with quick release buckles, tall OEM sissybar, ED sissybar pad (huge and comfy)n and luggage rack OR just sell the newly acquired saddlebags and tourpack...

I see the debate must be over as parts are for sale on FB
