  • This seasons math question....

Edit ***I know I can get close after I get all the hardware together and plank secured with the bike loaded, but I’m just eyeballing until then and I’d rather move the chock a little then the plank.

Roughly.... where is the Roadstars center of weight (front~rear)?

Where would be the preferred position of center in relation to a light weight trailers axle?

I’ll be securing a plank to the trailer for a 1,200 mile haul.

I decided it’s to cold to ride from KS to AZ this weekend so tonight’s project is to rig a small trailer to get there. Please keep the criticism light.....
The trailer is an old and faithful Harbor Freight https://www.harborfreight.com/1090-l...ler-62645.html
On top of the thin but surprisingly sturdy frame will be the plank... plank is 1/2 plywood 8’ long 11.5” wide, screwed to one side (bottom) is an 8’ long 2x10 next to a 2x8, screwed to the top is two 8’ 2x4s with a slight taper so the tires rests snugly between them (down the center).
I used this plank several years ago to haul the bike from AZ to KS in the back of a ford ranger (a pleasant experience).... glad I kept it.

I’ve got pics but it’s easier not to add them.

I’m off to HF to get a wheel chock before it closes and I get a headache.
So.... any science on this one?

    Ride safe or stay home~

As I recall, it's a little to the rear of the kickstand. But then it would change based on if you have a windshield, fairing, speakers, full gas tank, saddle bags, and stock exhaust. What I did was lift the trailer tongue a little with the bike on it to see when it was balanced, then moved it forward six inches. But that was in part since I was using a heavy Condor chock in the front which weighs about 50# and was bolted to an 8'X3' board.

Or you can put a jack under the bike on the ground and see where the balance point is when front and rear tires are suspended.

I do not know the answer, but when I use my bike jack, it is about the middle of the engine. I have a windshield, engine guard and my floor boards are moved forward.
