After selling a couple when they were first released Yamaha can't give the Eluder or Venture away. I've seen new Transcontinental bikes going for $19,999.99. Sad.

I saw a Venture TC listed at a dealer a couple hours away for $18,999. Sure wish I were in the market.......

why, is it because of poor resale potential, or because it is a limited production model , with limited parts , customization support, etc.and will only be made for a few model years almost guaranteeing very few used ebay parts?

I took both models for test rides and was underwhelmed. Nice bikes, smooth, but I liked the Indian Dark Horse more. I didn't like that you could not easily remove the trunk on the TC model either.

I still love that fairing from the front view, it just screams 1969 Corvette to me, but I think Yamaha just waited too long. The Bagger trend was already winding down when they introduced it. There's just no demand. Those spending that kind of money are going Indian or H-D. I'm sure it's a great bike, but then so is (was) the Road Star. BMW did the same thing with the K1600B. For the same money, I would choose it over any of those others (160 horsepower) But guess what? They are rotting in the showrooms too. I saw a brand new unsold 2018 online in San Diego for $16,900. I'll be flying out to get it soon as I hit that winning lottery ticket.

Yeppers, I see the '69 vette in it. Pretty bike, not my style.

No just the front of the fairing, the headlights and the way it comes to a point in the front

Really??? A Corvette? My first thought was a Camaro.
That and the fact that it's a Frame Mounted fairing,

I'm with you on the muscle car era Camaro on the front. But a big ol boat of a tail end. That end make me think of an old T-Bird.

Funny I thought it looks just like the F6B which is the market they were after by the looks of it. Too bad Honda has that market wrapped up.

There's a used Star Venture near me with low mileage and a great price. Just not loving the looks of the Venture or Eluder enough. They just don't look like real baggers to me. I currently own 3 baggers, 2008 RSV, 2009 RS and 2011 HD Ultra Limited but as usual, I am getting the winter itch. Heck I always have a "new to me" bike itch but Momma Yamaha's new baggers just don't do it for me. I'm also jonesing for a Indian Chieftain or Roadmaster and even a sport tourer like the Kawasaki KLR650 so who knows which direction I am gonna take but it's definitely not the yamma-baggers unless they are given to me.

          Couldn't agree more.

I have read and heard this more than once. Also read that some parts are cheaply made, plastic pieces breaking, engine oil plug weak etc.

I imagine that when all the "extras" like dealer handling, markup, freight, etc. are included, the OTD price will be a lot more than the price listed. However, after a year and a half of payments, I still owe what they have listed as the price for that Eluder.

Having ridden my Road Stars 200,000 miles in the last ten years, and being real comfortable with them, I still recognize their deficiencies. The Eluder is quite different. I have ridden mine about 28,000 miles so far and they are not in the same category. The Road Star is much more forgiving. It's an easy bike to ride as far as I'm concerned. The Eluder is not so easy. It takes a lot more effort as to its balance and handling overall. But where it excels is in touring. When you're on the highway, it's smooth, powerful, and comfortable. You don't have the vibration. Plus having the cruise control, the fairing, gps, radio (Sirius) and abs are added benefits.

True there are a lot of reasons not to get one, but then I had to decide whether I was going to leave my money to my ungrateful grandkids, or spend it on me. Easy choice!

I can beat that price and our total 'dealer fees' come to a staggering $249. LOL
The blue one we have also includes the passenger backrest.
