  • RSC facebook page

OK, i guess there is a RSC facebook page now, IMHO, facebook, altho a useful tool, sucks. people(?) are all over the place.... illogical, not really gearhead people giving gearhead advice. i tried it to see, but im gonna lose the page because of poor filtration. is this why our posts are down, are we supposed to migrate there?

It appears to be the place now, always a post. Everyone from anywhere at anytime. I'm on both and try to read all the information that i can about these reliable machines.

It’s RSC’s Jack in the Box version for instant gratification.

I read the reply posts for entertainment.

Lots of foreign people who have trouble with English/translation I see is a problem...lots of people with zero experience or complete liars and not many are receptive to advice...rather argue. It's the nature of FB from a traditional forum. I've been threatened a couple times from people I told were dumb...gave my address and no one showed up. The WORST part is the virtue signaling that goes on even on a motorcycle page....I tell someone their advice to use 117 octane leaded fuel in their roadstar was the worst thing you could do and then him telling me it worked fine in his bike....and then me telling him he is dumb got other people to tell me I'm mean and should have handled it differently. Unreal. Still waiting on him to come over and beat my ass.....he was very upset I told him he was dumb.

Guess that's why nobody seems to be talking Here anymore.
Hopefully it doesn't get as bad as the (several) Raider forums.
*Most recent post 2015*. *Question asked about maintenance, still unanswered since 2013*.

I searched to find out if the Raider used the same brake pads as the Roadstar... Still don't know.

The Clinic seems to be heading down that same path. Maybe it will return to the great informational forum it used to be. I don't know... only time will tell.

Quick search of Partzilla shows different Yamaha numbers for pads on Raider and Roadstar. Fitment doesn not list both for a specific front or rear pad. They do not fit both.

Thank you, JC. I hadn't searched parts suppliers yet.
I don't need brakes, just trying to collect information on
            a new (to me) ride.

I had wondered if I was alone in thinking that the RSC is fizzling out. Doesn't seem to be near the volume of topics coming through and I don't see as many of the old names. Maybe just a temporary lull or misperception on my part. I've never been much of a poster, but have always enjoyed reading and learning. Oh well, all good things...

At least I can still post pictures I’ve taken on FB quickly, and for free. Something I haven’t been able to do on here since my privies were abolished.

Yessir. And keep the bike discussions going.
Keep those Mod & Maintenance conversations
going, even if it's been said before.
Remember, we lost a Lot when the old site shut down.
Revisit stuff we learned about our biked 10yrs ago.

            Or am I being ridiculous?

I don't do facebook, never even seen the RSC site there. Not interested. If there's something over there that's lacking here, I'll just do without.

In my experience FB is more trouble than its worth. It is very intrusive to your privacy and a time suck for most people. I've been told that there are a lot of good things on FB (especially the Marketplace) but you have to determine is the benefit you get worth the intrusion into your personal information worth it. This subject just came up on another forum I'm on and one of the posters stated his account was locked and he had to show a government ID to get his account unlocked. Many other posters stated that never happened to them and he was wrong. Well the OP posted several links that showed FB can lock your account if it gets flagged for some reason and you will have to prove your identity via one of the approved sources like drivers license, passport, etc. So if you don't comply, your account remains permanently locked until you do. Hopefully you didn't post anything you wanted to keep or wanted to take down if that happens...

My brother sends me FB links all the time i can't access because i don't have an account. That sucks but at this point i'm not willing to give in. My daughter set me up an account once using bogus info and shortly after the account was open, many people that were in my contact list started showing up as "hey here is someone you may know". Obviously FB was culling info from my phone and making suggestions. Maybe my daughter didn't set up the correct privacy permissions, i don't know? Even if she did i've, heard from others that do FB that FB can make new policies that change settings and its your job to change them back. Too much for me to keep track of. Again, its a personal choice if you want to provide access to all your personal info for FB to use. At this point i'm not going to.

            Rant over...

I'm with you. I've not had a FB account and don't really care to do so. I came close when the old site closed. But thankfully this one spooled up and I can get my R* fix here.

Facebook RSC is still run by Steve, it's up to him to manage it as he sees fit.
The RSC website (here) is now wholly owned by Rock River Powersports and was transfered by Steve 2 years ago.
They have the same name due to history but they are separate entities entirely.

We may not have the global volume here that Facebook has but the quality of posts here are (mostly) much higher quality.
By the beckend server metrics I see, we're providing far more data feeding than the old RSC ever did, and by a longshot.
Even if the number of new posts looks like it's down, this is still THE place to gather information on the Roadstar & feeds are growing literally every day.
