  • Strapped to my Bike

Living in AZ my bike is my only mode of transportation. The riding season is year round, though you certainly don't want to be on the road at noon in july (think 110+).

Over the last year Ive manage to strap a few weird and interesting things to it. Thought perhaps you'd appreciate a Road Star hard at work.

I have 2 sets of reflective Rok straps. One thick and one thin. The thick ones are a bit longer. The Rok straps are fantastic, I use them most often. After a year of regular use they seem to be holding up just fine. I also have a cheap pair of elastic nets with hooks from Amazon that were 2 for 15. They work for things backpack size and smaller but the straps get used more often.

I like the cargo in the 3rd. picture. Laundry day brings back some memories of life as a single. BTW, good looking ride.

I had those leatherlite Jumbo's on 1100 shadow you could really put a lot of beer and groceries. When I go bike camping rarely we put all the gear in duffle bags and lay them across the bike makes a dandy backrest . Back in the 70s when I lived in Montauk believe it or not I had a Yamaha xs 750 vertical twin with the windshield when I would drive to the beach I would have a longboard under my butt girlfriend on the back with a short board under her butt and a dog on the gas tank . Could not go over 25 or 30 miles an hour or make any leaning Turns with a 9-foot 6 surfboard. This was a community with a strong fishing and surfing heritage and subculture. Traffic back then was very light.

They sure can fit a lot! I replaced the locks on them when I first got the bike. If I ever repaint the bike I'll go true hard bags. Until then...

I'm trying to imagine a bike with 2 people 2 boards and a dog on it.

Nice. Not big or clumsy, but maybe interesting: cupcakes and pecan pie transport.
