  • Trying to get Misfit back

For those of you that have been on here for a while, you may remember my old black and white road star “Misfit” I miss that bike, and miss that bike and wish I had never sold it.
I have been talking to my buddy I sold it too, and offered to trade him my 04 with 26k on it, for Misfit, which is an 01, with about 35k on it.
I know my bike is worth more on paper, but that bike was my bike, and I would gladly trade to get it back. I sold it about 4-5 years ago. I don’t think he has ridden it much, and hope it is still in close to the same shape as when I sold it.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.
i would post a pic if we weren’t on the no pic band

Did you have to do anything special when you removed the cover plates on the front brake discs ?

Good luck getting it back, Cike.

was it you that ended up with the pointy backseat pad thingy that I had on it? If so, did you ever use it? still have it?

It was. I never did use it. I'm pretty sure I know where I put it lol.

        Yeah, good luck.

This is precisely why I never sell anything!

mainly just personal reasons. It was my first Road Star and I spent a lot of time with it both riding and in the garage. It was my baby. It no longer has forward controls on it, but i'll fix that... it has the 1600 motor (which I prefer) instead of the 1700, spoke rims. (Which I now want instead of mags), Custom paint that I loved. I wouldn't feel right painting another bike the same.
It would be kinda like getting to hook back up with your first girlfriend again.

That might be worth painting another if not for just 1 ride.

My first girlfriend ended becoming a prostitute later in life so not sure that would apply in my case.
                  Go ahead, I dare ya.

No, just get ready for some possible harmonic vibration.

just remove the wheel. take the bolts out, remove covers, put the bolts back in, install wheel......I have done this to 5 bikes so far, Some of these bolts are real tight and need an impact driver or maybe some heat to get them started. i've had to end up easy-outing several bolts because of the heads striping.

What is the cause of this vibration ?

                • #13
The right side disc cover has a weight to dampen harmonics...if you remove it you can pick up some vibration

I believe Lug Nut, But I have never noticed any vibration.... or I have gotten so used to it that I don't pay it any attention.
