    FUEL MILEAGE ISSUE
    2000 Roadstar full windshield, two-up setup saddlebags etc...heavy. 167.5/37.5 Barons needle (clip on 4th) V&H Longshots ported manifold K&N round air filter stock wheels/tires, 1700 CDI ...ALL maintenance done (every fluid/filter/plugs changed....seafoamed oil gas and carb), runs/rides perfect. Wheel bearing quiet wheels spin freely. "Smells" fine plugs look perfect.

    When taking it easy mixed driving I only get 31 mpg on an 80 mile trip. Same gas station and pump same day same level of gas (all the way to top of neck). In town and 70 mph and below on highway (fair amount of idling in trafgic). No WOT pulls. When I did lots of WOT pulls it yesterday and checked mileage it was 30 mpg. No leaks manifold fine no vacuum ports left uncapped etc.

    Seems low considering I have another 2000 all stripped down with same jetting 31T pulley 2 into 1 exhaust and it gets 43.5 mpg.

    Don't know what else to check at this point....any ideas? I know the purple bike weighs more and has a full windshield but my previous Roadstar (2002) with stock carb and longshots outfitted as atock 2 up touring bike no saddlebags got 36 mpg at 85 mph and in town got 43 mpg. I just don't see a 12-13 mpg difference between identical bikes with extra weight (maybe 100-125 lbs of extraseats/bags/crashbar/lightbar/sissybar/windshield/etc).

    I only got 31mpg two up. But I was not taking it easy. Mountain passing lines wot pulls floorboards dragging in corners and up 90mph at times on the highway. I have got high 30 but never 40. I ride to aggressively

      With the plugs looking good I would ride a little more to get a little more average mpg info. I know on my bike sometimes mpg is great and then another ride it don't take much of anything different to put the mpg in the toilet. usually it is the mixed in town/hwy riding that does it on mine. Hwy it does fine as long as I stay 75mph (or so) and under.

        I noticed it hitting reserve quicker than my white bike as soon as ingot it even with broken speedo...I think I'm going to do wheel bearings since I'm sure they are original from 2000...I doubt running the valves would help mpg since it runs so nicely. I'll check every fuel stop like in always do...not gonna sweat it just found it odd that there was so much difference in mpg for same bike stripped vs loaded.

          Maybe your odometer reading is off. Do you have a measured mile you can drive? Mile post to mile post and see if your odometer says it's one mile.

            Odometer like speedometer is always off on bikes. I use GPS forn accuracy to verify the percentage difference. From riding the same route same mph etc it's noticable that I hit reserve soone and obviously calculate miles and gallons. White bike is off 8 mph high on white bike and about 5-6 high on purple bike when using GPS for speedometer and odometer. So when people think they are getting a certain mpg based on their odometer/gallons used they are actually wrong....Probably 10% less mpg in reality compared to what they think.

            does it start easy with out the choke?

              Right now doesn't need choke when it's warm out...idles low then slowly comes up to speed. PMS is about 2.5 out now (adjustable long screw) may get it hot and set PMS with tach watching for a change

                How about getting it Dyno tuned? I've only watched on YouTube and read on the subject, so I'm not talking from experience, just asking to read what everyone else thinks. I own a 2012 RS and I think that the gas millage sucks, on this bike.

                  I have the same bike and haven't really got a good handle on the MPG yet, i just ride it! I was on a ride last weekend and the reserve light came on, after I got gas the odometer seemed to go back to the regular trip odo and read about 140 miles. Not sure if that included the mileage when the light was on or before it came on. So I'm assuming approx. 150 miles per tankful. What kind of mileage are you getting?

                Whute bike gets 43.5 mpg....flip to reserve about 180-190. Purple bike flip to reserve 10ish get 30-31 mpg
