Flagging spam

if you see a spam post, don't reply or comment on it. Just flag it. We get those flag reports and take action. That action is pretty simple. If the post is obviously spam we delete and then check few boxes to delete all other posts by that user and ban them permanently. If the post is questionable as spam then we can suspend the user and then send them a message to work it out.

  • Transfer Case Filler hole and weep hole access

    Sorry for the long title. I am looking at after market exhausts for my 06 and what I am looking at (Cobra Power Pro) appears to block access to the filler and weep holes in the transfer case. Does anyone know if this is the case or is the pipe far enough off the bike to get tools and a funnel in there?

    It's pretty common with a lot of pipes that you have to remove the rear exhaust pipe to get to the caps and fill the case. If you get new pipes it wouldn't hurt to change your fluid before you install them.

      I've noticed recently that I seem to be experiencing a bit of weepage in this area. Replace copper gasket?

        Thanks Doc. Is what it is I guess. So..... where do you stand on using never seize on exhaust studs?

          I've personally never used it, but it would help prevent corrosion. Mine are rusted. I'd use the hi temp stuff.

            Yea, if the pipes need to come off, and you're going to change that gear oil with any frequency at all... Never-Seize is a real good idea... and, as Doc suggested, go with the Hi-Temp kind! You don't want them rusting or seizing!!! We've read of more than just a few broken stud accounts here.........

              Thanks Questcap. I change the transfer case oil once a year so I guess the exhaust system would be coming off as well. I’m no stranger to easy outs, heli coils and other damage control but I’d rather not go there. When i made the OP I was thinking the bike had suds that came out of the cylinder head. But now that i have checked it looks like an allan head bolt that threads into the cylinder head.

              No, no.... We've got studs with Allen-headed nuts that screw onto them. The biggest mistake most make is to over-tighten them. Factory spec is for 11 ft. lb., which isn't a whole lot, but most go well past that. The flanges on a lot of aftermarket pipes will bend when over tightened... when that happens, the studs splay outward some, and then you've got a problem getting the pipes off, as the flanges don't want to slip off the splayed studs.
