Just Horrific

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those killed and injured in a horrific crash in Randolph, NH early Friday evening. 7 people killed and 3 injured when a pickup pulling a trailer collided with several motorcycles. NH Gov. announced that the NTSB would join in the investigation to find out the cause. It appears the group of riders was a retired marines MC out of Mass. RIP

It always sucks when something like his happens, and the fact that these people served with honor doesn't make it any better. Imagine, surviving combat only to be cut down during a recreational activity? I do feel it's wrong to affix blame on the truck driver without evidence of such. It may very well turn out to be his fault, but we all know there's a million different ways this could have went down. Perhaps one of the surviving cyclists will be able to shed light on the matter in time. How ever it happened, it still sucks.

Last I heard, the driver's father made a statement that his son (the truck driver) was cooperating fully with investigators.
He was towing a trailer at the time so I wouldn't rule out something like a blowout causing a sudden swerve.

Latest Reports are saying the truck crossed over into the on coming bike pack (10 total bikes involved) and ran them head on. The NTSB is investigating and my guess is they are looking at the truck to see if there was any mechanical problems with either the truck or the trailer it was pulling. The club is known as the Jarhead MC and is made up of current and retired us marine vets. just plain sad.

Tho many states have laws passed banning the use of electronic, hand held devices (You know they mean those damn smart phones) while driving, but many just can’t seem to put them down. I see it every single day on the road. They’re not hard to spot either just because of the way they're behaving.

This guy came into my lane as I was beside him just last month and smacked my trailer while looking at his phone. Couldn’t even get his door open after creasing the fender. He never even looks back at me.

Here, they’re blatant about using their phones. Either their elbows are driving while they’re texting with the phone in their face or the phone is in a holder stuck to the dash.

The latest word seems to be that the driver of the pickup fell asleep at the wheel... It'll come out eventually. I suppose, but how incredibly sad. Another stupid story of a guy in a pickup turning left in front of 2 bikers in Colorado Springs Sat nite... One dead. It's said that driver was DUI.

Well, the DA wouldn’t have brought down those charges unless they knew something. Until they release the results of the accident investigation as to why there was inadvertent lane departure, it’s all speculation.

they are saying he had a OUI in 2013 and a 2nd OUI a month ago. What kind of commercial trucking Co. lets this asshole drive for them? There is going to be a big lawsuit coming their way also

I am the NH state President of C.O.T.K. a Motorcycle Organization. I am friends with several of those that did not make it in the wreck here in New Hampshire. These were great men and women who were truly dedicated to our cause, which is helping kids in need. One of their members had never missed a single one of our events.

I spent last night with a MARINE member of the NH JARHEADS. He was driving the chase vehicle and watched the entire event happen in front of his eyes. I had to hold a combat Veteran as he crumbled in my arms still reeling from the horrors he had witnessed. The details he shared are things that I wish no one ever has to
witness.

The fact that the driver has been charged indicates that they have a reason to believe and the evidence to back the criminal charges, and that this was not just a HORRIFICALLY TRAGIC accident, but that there was some form of willfull negligence. Whether that be drugs or distraction, it has yet to be determined. He did not over-correct the truck and trailer and lose it, but instead veered towards them and literally mowed right into them.

The love, concern and prayers are so needed and appreciated. However, the speculation on what happened and the inaccuracies that are being talked about, can and have made it back to some of those immediately involved. As you can imagine, the victims and their families are in no condition to try and set stories straight and in my opinion shouldn't have to. So please, I am asking out of respect for all of those involved, may we keep those theories and speculations to ourselves. Or discuss privately, and pray that these great Americans and Heroes can find the strength and courage to begin to heal both physically and mentally from this tragedy.

I sincerely appreciate your help in these very sad times.

Thanks for that message. I agree with what he says about speculation. And we all know how the "internet" works. Someone reads it and passes it along and soon who knows what is accurate. I do find it odd, that in his plea he would include this... "He did not over-correct the truck and trailer and lose it, but instead veered towards them and literally mowed right into them. " To me, he's doing for the most part what he's asking others not to.
